The Earth is a planet.  It is inaccurate to apply concepts like "unhealthy" to space flotsam^{TM V. Basile}, so I guess I know what you're getting at.  It would be more precise to say that the ability of the Earth to continue to support it's current inhabitants is dwindling.

according to the e.t. involved theories promoted by gh15, daddwaddy, and others.. on of the causes could be that the earth itself needs to progress into the next level of conciousness, but it cannot do so while its inhabitants do not progres. currently we are on the 4th level of conciousness. we should have progressed to the 5th quite some time ago.

 

or its because the renegade zeta reticulians are trying to use your planet and our people to continue their race, because they are going extinct (cant reproduce) and need our unique genetic make up (dna of 22 difff. lifeforms)

ok, I'll bite.  the earth has been much hotter in the past, and has been much colder.  sea levels have changed dramatically over the eons.   the difference is that in the past there were not billions of people on it.   how do you move a billion people out of harms way?  what happens when your most productive farm land becomes desert?

the earth currently is supporting 6.6 billion people, barely.  what happens when the environment changes enough that it can only support 2 billion?

there is no doubt that the earth will survive.  the question is whether civilization will.
