favorite era in bodybuilding?
« on: April 30, 2008, 11:54:47 PM »
mine was the 80's, i thought the industry was a little less cut throat back then, or so it seemed.   the chemical warfare that we have today is just to out of control. the lasix, hyperthyroid drugs, insane amount of test, growth hormone when it first came out was terrible.

the 70's got me into the B.B. scene, working out ect with my plastic weights made with cement, but i didn't know enough of it back then, although i do remember watching the 80 olympia, buying mags with zane, arnold, lou, franco, mentzer,  but as the 80's were in full swing and my lifting took off is when i really involved myself with bodybuilding lifestyle.

The 50-60's. Guys like Steeve Reeves had packed beaches of girls following him around. I remember Bill Pearl talking about large crowds waiting for him to guest pose. Over 20000 in India with so many trying to grab a look.

Sergio and Arnold took it overboard with completely unattainable yet good looking physiques. By the 70's, the physiques looked their best from a completely appearance perspective. Lee haney took it too far but still had shape with the mass. Dorian absolutely ruined it in 1993 and set a new standard. Ronnie carried it to a new level. Guys ripped to the bone yet appearing 6 months pregnant when relaxing their abs. The guys today look like strange waterfilled balloons from outer space.

I'd include Yate's first win.

Other than that, I agree... Early 70s - 1992.
