Pretty sure that by 1975 Dave Draper was drifting around the country with a bottle by his side.

Try to see the E! Hollywood story about him, since that's the only media source i know of; heavy substance abuse, heart attack, lost everything, etc. then made a comeback in part thanx to Schwarzenegger's financing of a couple of gyms.

I'm pretty sure it had something to do with Basile snapping pictures of him and really creeping him out...Many people told Draper that Basile had Dave's pictures plastered all over his bedroom(rumor has it)

Actually, they waited until the reults of the 75 contests to see whose footage would be used the most in the film. Zane was out of the money at the O, thus he was not featured substantially

The lawsuit is well known, as was the settlement, but where did you hear that the jury had returnd a verdict so large? ($900K in 1975 would buy the biggest beach mansion in Santa Monica).
