...Doesn't that gun weigh like 7-8lbs? Who wants to walk the streets with that in their pants? :D

Man I held that gun and just fell in love and yes it weighs about 7-8 lbs. I would buy it just for entertainment, it's also expensive to shoot ($2.00 a bullet)

I love this gun and the gun shop where i live has a range in the back of store for testing, I want to shoot that joker (the gun) ASAP!

i got 1 box free with the gun,and haven't even shot the whole box yet.

it isn't fun to shoot, its a big let down.but this is coming from a guy with a fairly large arsenal ;D

if you want to have fun buy yourself a AR15 lower receiver(with collapsible stock),and a Alexander arms 500 Beowulf upper.that is my favorite gun i own right now.

I have a Bren machine gun from WW2. Still works.

Bunch of other guns, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I would have owned a handgun, and keep it in my house, for safety reasons. Take lessons to learn how to use it properly, and to keep it safe.

Unfortunately, this is not allowed in this fucked up country called Holland. Instead you almost have to be polite to burglars when they invade your private space.   >:(

If you do not own a hand gun have you ever fired one?  Target practice?

Doom is curious.

I compete in IDPA almost every weekend:

I found it became more fun after doing is long enough to start actually getting good at it, and seeing scores improve, going up classifications. Competing next week in the Ma State Championships, which a big one around here. Best thing a civilian can do for little $$ to greatly improve their tactical/defensive shooting skills and I recommend it to everyone.

i have been a professional shooter since i was 13 years old.i was on the US national team since i was 14 and i quit most of that shit when i turned 20 because of the politics and there was almost nothing left to win.

but as soon as i quit competing i became a employee of a certain "security firm" and back to the guns i went.i then went to the DEA for about 7 months and have happily been a police officer ever since i left the DEA.and i am currently 1 of 2 on call LE snipers for the south east Texas region.

but it is truly hard for me to do competion again because i gave up a child hood for it.i remember 1 shoot in finland,i had already won the contest with a  perfect first day(150 out of 150) and the second day i was still ahead of the nearest person by over 20 targets and  i was shooting my last round and missed a perfect straight away on my last shot.i then snapped a brand new $10,000 parrazi mx-8(over and under shotgun) over my knee in front of the sponsors and walked off the field in disgust.so needless to say i tend to take shooting competitions way to seriously.

but i hope to return to competition one day just so my dad can see me shoot again.

Settle down benchmstr, it's just a shooting competition.

BTW, if you were my kid and you snapped a 19g gun over your leg, I would have broken that leg of yours. ;)

i know it is just a competition but if you ever see me shoot a shotgun be prepared to witness one of the greatest meltdowns of your life, hell i have gotten pissed before over a target that didnt break the way i wanted it to ;D

and my dad really wasnt pissed over the gun since i got those for free from parrazi.but he did get pissed because i walked off the field without shaking the score keepers hand.

Interesting story!  ;) For me, I compete in IDPA because it's a great way for civilians and LEOs to get regular practice on tactical and defensive shooting skills, and I don't get to wrapped up in the scores. Yes, of course I prefer to win, but my main goal is improving my skillset there, and IDPA is a great way to do it for little $$$$. We get a fair number of LEO's competing as it's far more training than they ever get via their depts, unless they are on the RRT/SWAT team or something.

i have allot of new officers that i train ask me about tactical schools and getting on the swat team and such and i usually recommend IDPA,but what bothers me is when they start asking me about sniper school.i always tell them if you don't know how to build your own rifle and read mil dots don't waste your money
then i inform them that they are going to have to "pony up" about $2000 for a scope(my scope cost $4100) and at the least after all modifications another $3800 for the rifle (my primary rifle cost $4700) and there hope diminishes somewhat ;D

so anything to get them on the entry team and out of sniper school is a big help to me,thats why i like the IDPA  ;)

Good deal!

I'm not sure I follow some of the above. The guys I know on the RRT/SWAT teams have had all their equipment assigned to them. Are the snipers on your units made to both purchase and build their own riles?

so anything to get them on the entry team and out of sniper school is a big help to me,thats why i like the IDPA  ;)

What ever works!  ;)

My brother is a cop.  He collects guns.  I have no idea everything he has but my daughter went to his house and she said he has one of his bedrooms converted into his office and there were four huge gun safes.  I remember he likes to buy big pistols when they first come out.  I remember he does have a Desert Eagle and a 44 automag with a 9" barrel ( i think this is right) and a Python.  those are the only names I can remember I think.  But from what my daughter said he has a lot of guns.

Had a melt down yesterday in fact. Here is my highlight vid from a big match that just took place:

I shot quite well for me, but made one big mistake and had one total FUBAR thing happen to me at the very end of the match, which will have killed my scores.

Stupid thing I did:

I replaced my old 16lb recoil spring in my 1911 with an 18lb spring, and didn't test it before the match. Bad move. What happened to me a bunch of times was I would go bang, bang, click...nothing. The heavy spring was not allowing the slide to come all the way back* and so a new rnd didnt get put into the pipe. I tried different mags, that didn't change it, so I put it down to the new recoil spring as the gun has never done that before.

Total FUBAR:

Even with the above problem which probably happened once every few mags or so, I was actually feeling good, which means something had to go totally wrong. Put in the mag, bang, bang. jam. Do a quick tap, wrack, bang drill. nothing. do it again. Nothing. Drop out that mag, put in new mag (by now my time score is destroyed and I already know I just blew it...) and finished.

The spring in the first mag broke! Snapped right in half. Was not an old spring in the mag either. Never had that happen before. I removed from the vid where I yelled "fu&%!" and am greateful I didn't get unsportsman like conduct infractions! That really sucked...

* = I have been using Remington UMC .45AC ball ammo. It's been my impression from shooting this stuff that it's very light loaded, and my experience with the 18lb spring seemed to confirm that. Any chrono or test the PMC ammo? I'm not a fan...
