Distilled water vs. regular water...
« on: May 16, 2008, 07:39:03 PM »
Big late 80's early 90's myth was drinking distilled water several days out from a bodybuilding contest will make you "dryer"  My theory is - if you are hard and cut/dry a week out, regular spring water will be fine....Any thoughts please?

Don't use toothpaste either. Contains sodium.

Agree, not much sodium in bottled water.  Not enough to cause problems, maybe even just enough to help.

I remember Rich Gaspari saying..."I duct tape my mouth while in the shower the last week" so no (regular) water can get in....

Well, any thoughts please on Distilled vs. Regular water...

This sounds like a question for Milos...

I don't think there's much reason for distilled versus regular water, unless you're drinking some really shitty regular water that is loaded with minerals, etc.

For the final days of prep, I like Smart Water.  It's vapor distilled water + electrolytes (calcium chloride, magnesium chloride and potassium bicarbonite).

I used to use distilled water at the shows....

to iron my shirts.

Other than that...no reason to use it, every reason not to.

I think Milos recommends spring water for the minerals in it. I remember Lee Haney saying Distilled water was dead water..

I believe the rationale was that through distilling the water that all the minerals (sodium, etc...) were removed. Thus the distilled water would pull the remaining sodium out(along with the rest of your electrolytes), which is why people who use it cramp up a lot. Spring water is best. I used to do the distilled water myself.

Your kidneys would feel "great" with this.

I asked a water consultant about this, he said reverse osmosis water has less particulates than distilled water, and the less particulate= less sodium.
