sorry .. i have to agree with lonnie..

limiting a guys progress is going to get real boring after a while.. thses guys will come as close as they can to the weight cut off and never venture over it.. there is only so much "refining" they can do before we see the same physique time after time.. bring back height classes where a 5'5 guy can compete against those of his same height and see the different contrasts in the physiques..

let the guy decide what is his best look whether that be 210 pounds or 190 pounds.. let the freaks stand with the streamlined guys of the same height and see the contrasts.. that way a guy can bring the package he wants and compete with those of his own height.. not being limited by a arbitrary number.. after all, we are really talking about guys that are mainly 5'5 or 5'6.. the old aau used to have the height classes and it worked fine..

Not at all...I've known Lonniw for some time now. He's a good guy...but he's going to take some heat for that comment
Everybody knows that the 202 is a weaker division but calling it handicap is extremely direspectful. Even prostitutes have courtesy names such as escorts; LT owes an apology to the 202 class.

Ok, I called LT, and asked him about that comment, and he replied...

"Pardon me for thinking anybody beyond a single digit IQ wouldn't know what i meant How could Bob, so intelligent and fabulous on the links to boot, not comprehend what I was referring to? As we ALL know, there are "handicaps" given in certain sports -- like golf, bowling, even horse racing. Has nothing to do with the competitor having a physical or mental handicap, has everything to do with being given special "consideration" to "even the playing field". Duh!

Did all the name callers actually listen to everything I said in the "debate" with Larry? Opps. Slap me upside the head for such a dumb query.

And Bob, regarding me never having a prime, another total misconception. I had a huge prime rib last Friday at Morton's,  not to mention prime time loans on various properties years back.

Well.. first of all. To report, write and take pictures and have extreme knowledge of the sport, do you really need to be a bodybuilder? I think we have gone through this before, as in every sport, movies, etc.  Get real.  Experience, knowledge and degrees do help. After all, I am not writing about how big my muscle got, I am writing and takes pictures about the sport. Jeez.

But Peter McGough, in his early years did and was a bodybuilder and looked great.

Lonnie Teper worked out, and completeed 3 hours, 3.5 incline for over 12 miles.

As for myself, no - I never was a bodybuilder, but did work out, and did hike.  How about some of you try going up the Grand Canyon from the river to the rim with a 60 pound backpack on.  How about some of you try to climb up Yosemite's Twin Falls from the bottom to the top.

You assume that since we are older, we never did anything. You are wrong.  I think some of you would be amazed at the endurance, strength and stamina of many of us.

Who the fuck cares what Teper looks like (you don't have to be a race car driver to report on it/take pictures/have a website about it)

that's what they are interested in like football couch potatoes watching cheering on their favorite team

baseball, hockey etc,LT has been around the sport for years (he is an expert on bodybuilding)
from what Paul Demayo used to tell me LT = great guy who helped him out a lot

hes not a bodybuilder and doesn't claim to be one

Rons the same way (great guy/helps people out),loves bodybuilding and the people in it!
follows the sport,takes tons of pics,made a website etc (it's a hobby)

For those who listened to it this past Monday did you agree with Larry or Lonnie ?
I have always thought like Larry on the 202 class but after hearing LT he makes some very good points.
I think if they are gonna have the 202 the 202 guys should not be able to compeat in both classes.

Agree with Larry 100%. He destroyed Teper. In a tough show, none those smaller guys will place in the money of the open. And if they do, whoever they beat deserves to lose. The bigger guys have ten times the opportunities to make money, especially offstage.
Enjoy your dish...

lonnie is right.. what we are baiscally doing is giving guys who are too small a chance to compete and do well.. it is silly.. in any sport the best guys win.. (well mostly) .. what we are doing with this class we are essentially dumbing down the competition.. one guy should win a bodybuilding show..

you dont see the nba lowering the baskets to let shorter guys compete.. if ya wan to compete in the nba and you are short you better be real good.. life aint fair.. genetics is a bitch.. just deal with it.. as i stated before go to height classes..

I thought last night's debate was pretty good between Larry & Lonnie.  I agree with Lonnie that having a 202 lb. division or any other weight division isn't going to make bodybuilding mainstream.  What it could help do, however, is recalibrate the judging standards and bring back more emphasis on quality instead of bodyweight.  Bodybuilding doesn't need a mainstream following to be successful, it only needs those who have been turned off over the last 10-15 years to come out of the woodwork and be re-energized.  The 202 lb. division is a good first step.

Lonnie did refer to it as a "handi capped" division...if anyone can quote it, I'm 99% sure...If I'm wrong, I'll be the first to apologize to Lonnie.

That said....There is not one good reason NOT o have different divisions in BB.

The basketball analogies, etc....all fall short (no pun intended) as you are not JUDGED in basketball, or any other sport that has been used as an example. If you can put the ball in the hoop, then you can play...without question...it's based on performance, not opinion.

If guys were judged SOLEY on their physique..then the point would be made that it makes no sense to have classes....but we all know thats literally impossible to overlook in BB....

More classes mean more opportunity to athletes, more spectators to watch them, more opportunities for sponsorships, contracts,etc....

I enjoyed the point and counterpoint on the arguement. It was entertaining.

So based on this, why don't we also have a contest for the 'Over 202lbs' and cut out all the short, underweight competitors?

The schomes come out of the work work... Guys like LT don't think they should have a 202 and under because he along with the judges like to look at big ass fucking men... But the truth is, that is what has wrecked the sport. The 202 and under guys will bring far less extending bellies... And get themselves in mags and then the fans can decide what they want to see.. Right now its the schomes that are the driving force... Just look what they did to women's bodybuilding...

Forget mainstream.. It will never happen... But that doesn't mean the schomes can keep trying to get these guys bigger... There killing these guys and they did the women...
