Author Topic: Do you hate pro bodybuilding? (Read 4534 times)

This thread is meant to spark discussion on the current state of bodybuilding. When I first started posting here years ago, I was interested in pro bb. Since then, I have come to view the "sport" as a total joke, and I am ashamed of the current form of pro bodybuilding. Back in it's golden days, bodybuilding was a great activity, with great physiques, and a healthy look. Now pro bb is a total joke, drama everywhere, gay for pay, massive amounts of chemicals, twinks and bloated retards tipping the scales at over 300 pounds. basically every pro is a pathological lier, and most are about to die.

I come here to grab advice on training, and to talk about training, but as far as pro bodybuilding goes - I hate it. Honestly, just step back and look at the current state of the "sport" - I know it's not a true sport..

Will the pendulum ever swing back to the other side, and will bb be restored as a legitimate endeavor? Or will things just get worse?

You are forgetting one thing these guys make millions and millions of Tax Free dollars each contest.Just take any Grand Prix show the Winner gets 10k and 5th gets 1k now money like that makes it worth all the Risk and Drug Abuse DON'T YOU THINK???hMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Not really, I don't think most the pros have pleasing physiques. I'm not into the circus freak look, and I never have been. I am a former athlete, and I aspire to look like one. I like a nice physique, that has the ability to back up how it looks.

Typical response though, I question the current state of bb, and I'm jealous of the parchute pant wearing drug freaks. I can honestly say, I would never want to look like any of the top pro's. Thats just my opinion of course. I have no problem with people who like that look.

Back when I first started posting here, 98/99 or so, it wasnt really about pro bodybuilding. It was a bunch of people who liked to lift weights and eat properly. Some did contests, most didn't. No one really talked about IFBB pro bodybuilding except around Olympia time. We mostly talked about our workouts and programs, with a bunch of off-topic stuff thrown in. Somewhere along the line this board became "all IFBB all the time", and that really sucks, since pro bodybuilding is a total joke. Rather than abandon our board, those of us who were here before then switched to bashing the IFBB douches every chance we got.

Chick view warning

I don't hate it all, I am still a fan. I like all divisions, but am mostly into the fitness division [the one with all the flips/splits etc]

Thing though, yes the whole seedy side of it that some women engage in is embarrassing.

Contrary to popular belief, most women who compete do not engage that crap, but the few that do reflect on us all.

The women claim it is their right, which is correct. Also means a decreased chance of even being seen as equal when there are women desperate to flash their ass for a few bucks imo. I would much rather it retain an athletic aspect, instead of sinking further into soft porn as we seem to be doing.

So yeah, the negative aspects do detract from it for me, although I still love it.

I don't hate it, but it's just that bro bbing gives you plenty of reasons to do so. It becomes fun when you bash the many negatives of bodybuilding because they're so fucking stupid and lack any sort of decency.

I don't hate it. That would be like hating anorectics, addicted people or people with compulsive disorders, or any psychological disorder or suffering etc.

They need love and care and joy and security and comfort. Not hate.
