I have a friend that lives in San Fran and he says that gyms in that area, such as Golds, are full of gays. Especially in the locker room, it's like a hangout in there. 
We have a home in Palm Springs and when we are there the only real gyms to train at are either Golds or Worlds. Since Worlds is down the road, that's where I go when I train, BUT, with the execption when I am there, it's 100% gay. As soon as you walk in the front door, everything gay, from 98% of the publications to the trainers advertising on the wall in provocitive poses. Same with the Golds gym out there. The first couple of times I went in I was reluctant and extreamly uncomfortable but I had to train somewhere. I finally got through my workout and as I was leaving the "guy" at the front desk asked "So......whats your story"? I ask what do you mean? and he said, what brings you in here? I told him my WIFE and ME have a home here and we're on a little vacation and I was training for a contest, he knew I was straight and he just said "don't worry we're harmless and you look straight". Have a good vacation.
Now when I go back, the people at the front desk greet me by my name...LOL. But in all honesty, it's one of the best equipped and cleanest gym I've even been in if you can get past the flamboyant clientel.
