Many people have overcome addictions to alcohol & pain killers to become exceptional people. It is very easy for some people to get hooked on painkillers, even if the Rx was used appropriately initially. There is a certain genetic predisposition to the effects of these substances that some people have (based on certain combinations of opioid receptors). Cindy McCain had a HISTORY of abuse, nothing about current abuse. Also, Cindy McCain is not likely to be a power hungry, aggressive first lady (as Hillary was) who is building a resume or pushing agendas. She seems intent to be in the backround supporting her husband. On the other hand, the impression many people have of Michelle is that she would be an outspoken, influential, powerful first lady that may push certain agendas from the first lady position. This is an important distinction to recognize between the two of them and quite logical.
If history proves that Michelle has expressed racists feelings publicly, then we have a real problem. We know that her thesis focused on institutional racism, which is not wrong but if it goes further, its a major issue. There was a quote made public where she said she would use all resources and efforts to help the black community above all else. This would not be tolerated if she was white. If this tape does exist and it is excused, there is a double standard.
