I look at my computer and see Dell, an American company. I look at my operating system and see Windows, also an American company. Of course, some people have a MAC which is made by Apple, but, that's an American company, too. Then I do a search on the #1 search engine in the world, Google, also an American company. I open up my computer and see the name of the biggest chip processor company in the world, Intel, also an American company, and, I see the name of the biggest high end graphic card maker in the world, NVIDIA, also an American company.
For a country on the brink of collapse we seem to be pretty good with the technology thing.
In fact, of the 150 largest companies in the world approx 1/2 are American. Not bad for a country that only has 5% of the world's population.
Your statement is clearly more a matter of wishful thinking than a statement of fact.
Agreed.
It's hard to legitimize any argument that claims America is still not top dog on the block. The biggest argument outsiders or those inside have against America right now is the fact that the dollar is a tad bit weaker then it was a few years back...but come on, let's put it into perspective...is America really falling apart?
People clamor about our national debt, people gripe that economically we're not as powerfull as we used to be. Well is this true? I don't think so.
Which country still funds over 90% of the WOC (World Bank)? America.
Which country still spends more money then any other on goods and services? America
Which country still has one of the highest home owner rates in the world? America
As for our national debt, where does most of this lie? In the WOC and other similar institutions that we are the primary funders for...who's going to call us on that, ourselves? Doubt it.
Who still has the most powerfull military in the world? America. Some would argue against this simply because the way things have drawn out in Iraq. But seriously, think about it...anyone with half a brain knows that could be over in less then 24hrs if our military was given the green light to do so. The only reason it hasn't is because of bullshit protocol and bitching by the rest of the world. The rest of the world is still scared of our muscle, and rightfully so...and you can bet your ass anytime we flex that muscle, there is going to be crying in the streets.
A lot of people, a lot of countries hate America, and this hate is based primarily on jealousy. It's in the very nature of man to be jealous of his superior. I say who cares. Since when is what others think really all that important? Sure, some will argue that we as America need outside countries for support. Quite the contrary...we choose to let these outsiders have a taste of what we have in order to better our own lives here at home. If it came down to it, America could easily do without outside help...of course half the countries in the world would be decimated, since it is they who rely on us for financial and defense support.
Last little bit, every great country, every great empire in history has eventually fallen. True, America may one day be destined to the same fate...time will tell. But we are a far cry from this now. You may hear and read over seas that America is on the brink of oblivion, but what else would you expect? As corny as it might sound, but it is the truth, the American dream is still alive, still breathing, still kicking and holding strong. Any foreigner who doesn't believe that should come here for himself and see first hand.
