I'm voting for McCain, and I urge anyone who doesn't want a radical socialist agenda unleashed on America to do the same.  Maybe you don't like McCain personally, maybe you don't like the religocrats, maybe you don't like Bush and his gang of idiots, but hold your nose and vote McCain anyway.  Hidden behind Obama's slick media image there are some pretty scary policy positions.

Despite what your media tells you, only half of the Republican support base are religious nuts.  The other half are people with libertarian leanings who believe limited government is essential to individual freedom. Why should we give 3/4 of our money to the government so they can "wisely spend it on our behalf" as though we were children or something?  I prefer to keep taxes limited to only the necessary items, and decide for myself how my resources should be allocated. 

Libertarians aren't happy with the republican party.

The statement made as the subject of this thread is simply untrue.  No politician in his right mind would ever endorse a policy of a complete gun ban simply because he/she would never get elected.  And a politicians first priority is to be elected.  This sound to me like something someone heard on right wing talk radio, meant to scare them into not thinking for themselves. You hear this all the time, they are going to take away my guns or my bible.  A thinking person should be offended by this kind of fear mongering.  If you get your news from these type of sources whether they be liberal or conservative you are missing about 90% of the truth.

Actually, this will prob be an easy win for Obama.

People are tired of high gas prices, job lay-offs, foreclosures everywhere, and the war and they are going to blame the party responsible for it at the booths.  McCain unfortunately has gotten the raw end of the deal as he's inherited all of Bush's problem.

People will take color as a factor...except it will be the color of money.  The current President has royally fucked up the economy and I think that will take presidence over electing a black President.  Nothing personal but McCain

I don't like your reasons for voting for Obama. What he is promising should raise a red flag to anyone with common sense. He isn't going to solve all of these problems and people are falling for it.

That is unfortunate because it clearly demonstrates he does not understand the principles by which this nation was founded.  It is not the fear of finding something incriminating that people find this type of governmental intrusion alarming but the principle that we have protection against unlawful search and seizure.   In short, they shouldn't be looking in the first place and if you provide them with that type of access how far will they take it.   Truthfully its a slippery slope argument but I wouldn't want to test it practically.   I always find it ironic that certain people are so outraged and in fear of politicians taking their guns away but endorse, condone and encourage other intrusive behaviors like those stated above.    What they don't realize is that gun ownership is so wide spread and the gun lobby so immense that the possibility of guns being completely banned is next to impossible.  They are clearly being manipulated probably by fear.
