I think your body also changes and responds differently to different type of training with time.
There was one point in the past when I was responding very well to 3 days a week training, using HIT type training.
At the moment, as mentioned I train 5-6 times a week, I dunno how to categorize my training, its a mix of heavy compound movements, like squats, deads, and bench, but I also do train using the cables and machines. Training wise this has been one of my best pre-contests to date!!
