Uh oh, does that mean you wouldn't like my S55 AMG Mercedes Nazi-mobile? Or my Lingenfelter Twin Turbo Corvette? I got nostalgic recently and also got a Totally restored and modified 79 Pontiac Trans Am. Well Moose, guess I'm one of those jerks that blew money on cars. You're kind of right about the non-investment. The way this economy is going, I may sell the Vette soon. Someone has offered me more than I paid for it. It is fun to hop in that thing and feel the 750 horsepower surge on the Turnpike once in a while. I like to blow away the kids in their souped up Rice Racers that don't realize my Vette isn't stock.

but nonetheless you do own a car... you see the contradiction in your statement?

we can argue about the degree how much is being pissed away, but that is a different discussion

the gas mileage on lincoln 2002yr is one of the worst around http://www.fueleconomy.gov/Feg/bymake/Lincoln2002.shtml

you could have bought a smaller, cheaper and more efficient car when it comes to gas..so you are pissing away money too, no?

No.

I have been in several devastating car accidents....in one I literally was thrown thru the windshield....so I find it prudent to drive the heavier Lincoln for safety sake.

And, if I lived in NYC (Which I do not)...I would not own a car and just take cabs....necessity her in CT.

Cars have very little value after a few years.

Also having a good ride means jackshit these days because any idiot can lease an expensive car

I'll take the gym. It would have to be bigger than my home to hold all the equipment I want.

technically you right, but this car is priced at 100K

MSRP: $94,550
Estimated Market Price: Not Available
Invoice: $87,932

assuming that can sell it before taking delivery and driving it

lets say you sell it for 75K

you could build a nice gym for $15K (there are tons of used gym equipment out there)  and still have 60K to invest  :-\
