rare opportunity!!!!!!
« on: June 09, 2008, 02:15:52 AM »
We sit here today arguing back and forth and once in a while it crosses our mind that it would be nice sometime in the future to go back and shove the proof we were right in their face.  unfortunately many years from now, we'll be unlikely to have the opportunity to say, "I told you so"

I just had that rare opportunity.  I tracked down the fella I argued with the most during the 2000 election and it went just as I suspected, but I know he's gritting his teeth and wishing he hadn't acknowledged my existence :)

5hahaha...  ya right... not a shock this would be your response.  You were still wrong and I was still right and you'll never know what Gore would have been like.  The fact is, the things you called BS on and the things I said would happen, did.  Enjoy being wrong.  Actually since the numbers and scope far passed what I predicted and you said wouldn't happen, enjoy being way way freaking wrong. :rotflmbo:

3We had quite a few battles on the board.  How does it feel to have been entirely wrong about Bush.  Everything I said would happen under Bush and you said wouldn't happen, has indeed happened :D

1Did you ever post on the Rush limbaugh forums way back before it closed down, during the 2000 election?  Been looking for a timberwolf from that forum.
2Sounds familiar...why do you want to know?
4And, he's still, to an exponential degree, a better choice than Gore or Kerry, so what's your point?

It's been vindicating to watch the right-wing religious zealot neotaints try to justify the stealing of oil.  They cna't defend it, and you know it causes a moral conflict (how can you support obvious theft and still look God in the eye?)

Also the WMD lie... people would call me a CT because I said they weren't there... now Bush and crew all admit they weren't there.

And the 'perpetual war thing'.  I said two years ago this war wouild be dragged out to end of bush's term, because war is good for business and oil/base deal wasn't done yet.  They said I was nuts.  History, in the short term, has proven this is exactly what is happening.  And when he declares victory this october, well...

And of course the 911 story.  No one here will say the Official Story is accurate anymore.  I can easily googles hundreds of military officials and structural and mechanical engineers who want a new investigation.  Many people here used to call me horrible names because I wanted a new investigation.  Is there anyone here who still believes the official story, word-for-word?  Anyone?

So you guys were correct in everything you prophesied? ???

Why don't you stop posting on here and become political advisers if your foresight is almost infallible?

Rather sit at home eating fried cheese 240?

Actually I don't even know what that means.  Cheese is like govt beaucracy.  It only slows things down.  I wasn't correct about everything.  But when I did state what the facts showed, even when unpopular, history has shown that I was correct.  When you're passionate about something, arguing with blind loyalists who are also passionate, you do put a lot of yourself into these arguments.

For my arguments made with this Timberwolf in 1999, I turned out to be exactly correct with the major points being on the economy, unemployment and war.  The status I said we would be under with a Bush presidency on the Rushlimbaugh forums is exactly what it is today.  My only bust is I undercut my predictions--it's actually worse than what I stated would happen, numbers and statements Timberwolf laughed at and said would never happen!  So yes, this is one of those rare occations when one predicts right and is able to actually locate the person from way back and say, AH HA!!!! :)

I suggest being right more often, it seems to be a rare occurrence since you have highlighted the time you claim to be right and made a thread about that time.

Wow, I am astounded by your vision.

Normally political advisers are skilled on in one area of government; you have demonstrated areas of amazing foresight in not only economy, but also war!

Honestly, send of your resume to the political party of choice ASAP!

yea, smart ass....  I've been many things on this board but I'm not a liar.  Yes, I did also insist that we would be at war under Bush.  I have the memory of those arguments and I tell you I am not making shit up.  That's not a hard prediction for someone looking at the stats.  And in this case, Bush overshot my prediction.  I didn't account for the war being perpetual(war on terror) and with more than one country at a time.

How many military conflicts were we in when Clinton was President?

Somalia

Haiti

Kosovo/Belgrade

Iraq

Sudan

WTC blown up in 1994

Kobar Towers

USS Cole

2 Embassies in Africa

Sorry back to topic....you guessed correctly we would have a military conflict.  Grats!

::) I was talking about War, I made it very clear.  your point could have been easily brought up, it was not.  We were not talking about isolated actions, the conversation was about actual bloody committed drawn out warfare.  Hope that helps ;)  Nothing of the Clinton years compares to the munitions and troops committed during the Bush years and you fracking know it :)

Congrats Hugo :D

One thing I don't get is sme media praise of Obama for the text of his speech when he predicted the Iraq war would last for years and be a financial drain. No diss to Obama - but I predicted that? My friends did? Hardly needed to be some genius to see that ::)

It was blantantly obvious. An unprovoked attack on a nation of 20 million+ people and start killing them and commmitting atrocitries - um they will fight back. On a microlevel - what freak does not fight back and is excited when someone breaks in their house to kill them?

The sad part is is that in 1999 with only a cursory reading of Bush's qualifications and presidential platform and a casual observance of his daily lies on those matters, anyone could have seen Bush was a disaster waiting to happen.

Some people, like Hugo, quantified Bush's inevitable disaster better than most people at the time.

The real shame is that, in light of the obvious disaster Bush posed for America, half of us still voted for the con-man.

The Onion sure predicted war:

Bush: 'Our Long National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity Is Finally Over'
January 17, 2001 | Issue 37•01

WASHINGTON, DC–Mere days from assuming the presidency and closing the door on eight years of Bill Clinton, president-elect George W. Bush assured the nation in a televised address Tuesday that "our long national nightmare of peace and prosperity is finally over."

President-elect Bush vows that "together, we can put the triumphs of the recent past behind us."
"My fellow Americans," Bush said, "at long last, we have reached the end of the dark period in American history that will come to be known as the Clinton Era, eight long years characterized by unprecedented economic expansion, a sharp decrease in crime, and sustained peace overseas. The time has come to put all of that behind us."

Bush swore to do "everything in [his] power" to undo the damage wrought by Clinton's two terms in office, including selling off the national parks to developers, going into massive debt to develop expensive and impractical weapons technologies, and passing sweeping budget cuts that drive the mentally ill out of hospitals and onto the street.

During the 40-minute speech, Bush also promised to bring an end to the severe war drought that plagued the nation under Clinton, assuring citizens that the U.S. will engage in at least one Gulf War-level armed conflict in the next four years.
"You better believe we're going to mix it up with somebody at some point during my administration," said Bush, who plans a 250 percent boost in military spending. "Unlike my predecessor, I am fully committed to putting soldiers in battle situations. Otherwise, what is the point of even having a military?"

On the economic side, Bush vowed to bring back economic stagnation by implementing substantial tax cuts, which would lead to a recession, which would necessitate a tax hike, which would lead to a drop in consumer spending, which would lead to layoffs, which would deepen the recession even further.

Wall Street responded strongly to the Bush speech, with the Dow Jones industrial fluctuating wildly before closing at an 18-month low. The NASDAQ composite index, rattled by a gloomy outlook for tech stocks in 2001, also fell sharply, losing 4.4 percent of its total value between 3 p.m. and the closing bell.

Asked for comment about the cooling technology sector, Bush said: "That's hardly my area of expertise."

Turning to the subject of the environment, Bush said he will do whatever it takes to undo the tremendous damage not done by the Clinton Administration to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. He assured citizens that he will follow through on his campaign promise to open the 1.5 million acre refuge's coastal plain to oil drilling. As a sign of his commitment to bringing about a change in the environment, he pointed to his choice of Gale Norton for Secretary of the Interior. Norton, Bush noted, has "extensive experience" fighting environmental causes, working as a lobbyist for lead-paint manufacturers and as an attorney for loggers and miners, in addition to suing the EPA to overturn clean-air standards.

Bush had equally high praise for Attorney General nominee John Ashcroft, whom he praised as "a tireless champion in the battle to protect a woman's right to give birth."

"Soon, with John Ashcroft's help, we will move out of the Dark Ages and into a more enlightened time when a woman will be free to think long and hard before trying to fight her way past throngs of protesters blocking her entrance to an abortion clinic," Bush said. "We as a nation can look forward to lots and lots of babies."

Soldiers at Ft. Bragg march lockstep in preparation for America's return to aggression.
Continued Bush: "John Ashcroft will be invaluable in healing the terrible wedge President Clinton drove between church and state."

The speech was met with overwhelming approval from Republican leaders.

"Finally, the horrific misrule of the Democrats has been brought to a close," House Majority Leader Dennis Hastert (R-IL) told reporters. "Under Bush, we can all look forward to military aggression, deregulation of dangerous, greedy industries, and the defunding of vital domestic social-service programs upon which millions depend. Mercifully, we can now say goodbye to the awful nightmare that was Clinton's America."

"For years, I tirelessly preached the message that Clinton must be stopped," conservative talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh said. "And yet, in 1996, the American public failed to heed my urgent warnings, re-electing Clinton despite the fact that the nation was prosperous and at peace under his regime. But now, thank God, that's all done with. Once again, we will enjoy mounting debt, jingoism, nuclear paranoia, mass deficit, and a massive military build-up."

An overwhelming 49.9 percent of Americans responded enthusiastically to the Bush speech.

"After eight years of relatively sane fiscal policy under the Democrats, we have reached a point where, just a few weeks ago, President Clinton said that the national debt could be paid off by as early as 2012," Rahway, NJ, machinist and father of three Bud Crandall said. "That's not the kind of world I want my children to grow up in."

"You have no idea what it's like to be black and enfranchised," said Marlon Hastings, one of thousands of Miami-Dade County residents whose votes were not counted in the 2000 presidential election. "George W. Bush understands the pain of enfranchisement, and ever since Election Day, he has fought tirelessly to make sure it never happens to my people again."

Bush concluded his speech on a note of healing and redemption.

"We as a people must stand united, banding together to tear this nation in two," Bush said. "Much work lies ahead of us: The gap between the rich and the poor may be wide, be there's much more widening left to do. We must squander our nation's hard-won budget surplus on tax breaks for the wealthiest 15 percent. And, on the foreign front, we must find an enemy and defeat it."

"The insanity is over," Bush said. "After a long, dark night of peace and stability, the sun is finally rising again over America. We look forward to a bright new dawn not seen since the glory days of my dad."

nope, I did not predict 9/11 exactly.   I did predict a serious war and if you had the same info I had, it's not a special prediction.  I don't normally make posts like this.  It is one of those rare occasions where you find the person you argued with and are able to confront them many years later.  Just thought it was cool.  First time for me :)

We could have won the war by know and u could still have said the same thing. Obama hasn't had an original idea yet. Atleast Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich argued for real change. I disagree with some or all of both of their positions, but it would not have been business as usual.
