Hmmm...I might have been right...
« on: June 09, 2008, 02:59:20 PM »
This was posted on Pro Elite....

"According to an article that appeared on wrestlingherald.com today that very well may be the case. The following was sent along to mmanews.com by Angel Aramboles:

I just got off the phone with a source very close to the situation and I am told that Floyd Mayweather and his representatives have been in contact with UFC's Dana White as late as Wednesday but "possibly as late as last night" according to the source.

UFC is expected to make several announcements on Thursday.

1) Anderson Silva will be fighting in the light heavyweight class
2) Chuck Liddell will fight in the main event on the September pay-per-view in Atlanta

However, the big announcement being rumored is that Floyd Mayweather will be signing or has signed with UFC. For those that did not read our last update, Mayweather announced his retirement from boxing. If this signing turns out to be the case this would be a huge coup for UFC as it would surely attract some of the boxing fans that have not given UFC a chance. "

Wow, that's mind blowing alright!!!! Here's to hoping he gets the shit kicked out of him. Dana just pushing it farther down the path to becoming a spectacle. Lesnar, Kimbo, PBF. HA.  :-X

Two things I've like to see

a) Mayweather in UFC
b) NO EARLY STOPPAGE; KICK THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF THAT ARROGANT PIECE OF TURD BEFORE STOPPING THE FIGHT

i say bring 'em on. as long as the fights are exciting, who gives a shit? :D

i think very few really care about the "technical" aspect, as much as they complain about "bad" fights. we all know good striking is more exciting because MMA is, at its heart, cockfighting with people. toss two guys in a cage and let them duke it out.

If the rumored $200 million contract turns out to be true, then I expect PBF to get the same kind of treatment as Kimbo. Mediocre strikers with absolutely no ground game. It would be unfathomable to have a guy go out there and get the shit kicked out of him for $200 million. Will be interesting. I'll be watching, Mayweather needs a good beatdown.

you hit the nail on the head.  There is no way that Mayweather would risk his image without getting a guarantee that he be given opponents with limited skill sets.  Its a good decision as far as publicity goes and a major acquisition of a mainstream athlete.  However, boxing has been on a decline for some years and the only audience his arrival will draw is from the boxing community which I suspect already watch in large numbers.  It will generate a ton of publicity from mainstream sports media which I guess is a good thing.

I'm praying that PBFs arrogance has him convinced that he run over a Fitch, Huerta, Florian or Guida.  My guess is they'll throw in some duschebag like Melvin Guillard....

melvin would mop the floor with PBF (brutally). IMO that would be a horrible match up but fun to watch. LOL.

Not in a strict striking match he wouldn't.
