Hilarious - Maliki actually thinks Iraq is a sovereign nation

U.S.-Iraq Security Talks Hit "Dead End"

AMMAN, Jordan, June 13, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(CBS/ AP) Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki says talks with the United States on a long-term security agreement have reached a "dead end."

Al-Maliki says the talks slumped because each side refused the other's demands.

He says the initial framework agreed upon was to have been an accord "between two completely sovereign states. But he says the U.S. proposals "do not take into consideration Iraq's sovereignty."

The prime minister said Friday "this is not acceptable." The American demands "violate Iraqi sovereignty. At the end, we reached a dead end."

Washington and Baghdad have been negotiating behind closed doors a deal that would give U.S. troops legal grounds for an extended stay in Iraq after a U.N. mandate expires Dec. 31.

If Maliki ever ACTED on his rhetoric, the US would have his ass in a pine box faster than you can say 'Saddam Hussein.'

The Iraqis hate the US and want the invading force gone.  We are not liberators.  We are conquerors.  We know it.

And they know it.

NBC reported last night that Bush now wants 58 bases, not the 30 existing bases or 41 projected bases.  He wants 58 now.

This long-term contract will not involve Congress when it's passed, interestingly.  They never see it.  The negotiations happen between the white house and the iraqi leaders.  The deal will never have a chance to be debated here.

I'm betting that al-maliki is going to fall into line soon, or he's not going to be in power much longer.  Coincidentally, the new interim leader will agree to our terms on day 1 of his administration... ;)

The day will come when the majority Shia government will align with Iran and tell us to Fuck Off.

Soon thereafter we'll have to send even more tropps and free them from themselves for their own good

Well their sovereignty wasn't taken into consideration when we invaded, so why should it be now, when we own them?
