The fact is that Rip's butthole , like all humans', will smell differently at different times of the day or night. After a nice shower it probably smells of lavender soap. Later it will take on a more pungent and musky odor.

 After some heavy squatting and maybe a good, hard dump it will probably be a little stinky.
