I like the old fashioned oats not the instant so when I followed how they cook it I always found it sort of nasty. I placed it in my rice steamer and tried that and it makes it 100% better.

Grits has a higher glycemic index that Oats … it depends on how you like the taste … I go with oatmeal … safer
