No, for those who have access to the med, and for those who take them consistently, HIV is a manageable disease.   And in the US, there are enough programs (ADAP) that if you don't have insurance, you can still get the meds.  In the US if someone dies of AIDS these days it is usually because they don't take their meds consistently (such as 3 day meth binges) or they have a second disease (such as Hep C).

My professor at my university who was head of AIDS research told me when two HIV positive people engaged in unprotected sex it increases each others virus antigenic variation allowing it to become immune to some medications and creating a different more advance form of the strand... or some shit like that...  in any case
