lot of seriously deluded Americans in this thread talking about European health care like 'they know all about it' when in fact not one has it accurate.

if i need to see the doctor for anything i call, make an appointment and will see him that day or the next.

if i feel its something urgent i can walk into the hospital, and will be seen within a few hours, unless its life threatening in which case you are taken immediately.

if you need something done (operation, scan, x-ray, etc)to prevent death or extreme pain, etc its done straight away.

if you can get by then yes you are placed on a waiting list. ( this would be if you are having some reoccurring problem, constant shoulder pain, digestion problems etc etc)

and we don't have to pay a single penny for any of it regardless of how rich we are.

so tell me, how exactly is the us 'health system' better?

also in europe we dont have to worry about getting shot, although we do have a knife problem in glasgow (knife stabbing capital of europe if not the world  :()

The Glasgow smile is (in)famous... ;D

I certainly was NOT talking about the UK, though I will be moving there in autumn for at least a year.

I have lived in the UK before. I don't drink; heading to Yorkshire for educational reasons.

For me...South Florida.  Weather is beautiful 99% of the time.  I wouldn't move back to Boston as it's just to dark and dreary for my liking.  Winters suck, long, cold, dark and wet.  The summer has shortened to about two months time with the added Spring teaser.  Although watching the leaves turn in the fall was nice, it happened within a weeks time and was over and then usually dropped to 30 degrees, add snow (pretty first time around), then all the sanding, the city becomes very dirty.  Down here in SF there is always color.  Flowers are always in bloom.  The ocean is clear and warm.  It's sooooooooooooo much cleaner here all around.  The people are friendlier and not always in an unrealistic hurry (although there are times that Floridians are too laxidaisy and slow  :-\

I love it here.   :D

Im surprised no one has mentioned Denver, Dallas/Ft Worth or Miami?

For me San Deigo, Dallas/Ft Worth, Vegas, somewhere in AZ.

Im all for the warm weather year -round. Cant deal with the freezing winter 9 months of the year like up in NYC.

Reason Im not there yet is because I work for myself and have local clientel.

Laura, I couldn't agree with you more.  Florida is paradise!  Have you been to Fort Jefferson/Dry Tortugas, or the other "7 Wonders of Florida"?  Check out the former on Google Earth!  You can only get there by seaplane or boat.

#1 = San Francisco
#2 = (South) Florida

Lower 48: Mostly Southern San Diego county, along the ocean front. Except Imperial Beach. If you want desert (low and high) or mountains just go east on Hwy 8 or north on the 15. There before you know it. Can also throw in Flagstaff,AZ if you want to get away from it all. Very cool place, as is Carmel, Ca area.

Off the mainland: Hawaii. North Shore, Pipeline, Off the Wall, Back door, etc. Waimea Bay has too many people on vacation. Among other things, their sun block/lotions cast a smell everywhere they go. Though the visting two week vacation girls (girls really gone wild) are easy picking for the native guy's. Or any one else for that matter. Got to have the big bucks though to live there year round.. Only Me must be rolling in cash.

Foreign places: Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico. If you like a little more remote area, Colima, Mexico.
