The trick is to use more than one protein/carb sources. Buy 2-3 bags of chicken or fish at costco for maybe $70 and have 1-2 pieces a day. Maybe albacore tuna can 1/per day at 50cent a can = $15 month. Quaker Oatmeal wholesale box is like $8 and will last a 1-2 months. Brown rice or sweet potatoes is really cheap too. Costco EAS whey 4lbs is $30 and at 1/2 scoops a day will last a month. Bags of frozen veggies will cost about $20/month. Boom a bit under $200/ month.
maybe God made chainsaw's muscle of a much higher quality and thickness than mere mortals like Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler or Victor Martinez and he has to feed them much higher quality food than those guys eat.

protein is protein is protein is protein. swilkins logic is the same as using different types of metals when lifting to "trick" your muscles.

Jay Cutler spends $1000/month maybe more on expensive food and still has not gotten really shredded since 2001 when he was not as well off financially.

i don't think this thread went the way "chainsaw" thought it would, this 6'4" 220 pound behemoth must be cooking his 550.00 a pound sashimi and choking on his tears.

and yet chainsaw claims to spend twice that much to feed his monstrous 220 pound at six feet four body, who's the fool?

I meant eating different sources for the money savings. Would you eat steaks every meal spending $50+ a day for protein when you could switch to cheaper ones like tuna or frozen chicken r whey?  ;)

Yes he spends way to much on fish.  They just a news special on the other day on fresh fish in las vegas.  most of it is flown in overnight and there are two to 3 flights per day arriving in vegas with fish.  So alot of the fish here is fairly fresh.  And flash freezing them is fine.  Turkey here is only 89 cents a pound so that is nothing.  I too try to cook a turkey a week and just eat it throughout the day for a few days.  I have been eating cod, tillipia and catfish lately.  I buy it and it is $5.99 a pound on sale.  I am so used to really fresh fish and pretty good prices but they aren't that bad here.  he needs to go to the japanese market on Decatur across from the 24 hour fitness to buy fish.  it is fresh and the prices are great.

2000USD worth of food/month...no eating disorder?

It is peanuts for some of us and 12months worth of foodstamps for the trailer people.

It depends what else you do.
If you dont work and cruise around in your helicopter having fun all day
then its all good.

Or if you have every thing you need, dont need to work at all, just work for fun.
Have he perfect house, swimmingpool, car, motorbike,
and a big chunk  invested somewhere then it is all good as well.

If you work full time, all week, pay the bills, go the gym and eat, not saving much, if that is all you do
then it sounds pretty stupid to spend it on food.

Its almost still moving.

I'm so lucky, you guys have no idea.
I thought that many more people were as fortunate as

me away.

You all have taught me something today.
Stay in school, and work hard, and maybe
someday ya'll will be as fortunate as I'am.

Here's the deal: Some people don't think the point of grocery shopping is to buy the cheapest food you can possibly find.  If you buy the best cuts of organic meat as well as ocean caught fish then you can easily generate a 2K food bill at the end of the month.  I don't want to eat frozen fish, or frozen anything.  I don't want to eat fruits and vegetables with pesticide residues and I don't and I don't want to support factory farming; hence, a large food bill at the end of the month, which I don't mind one bit.  I don't spend any money on alcohol, I don't have particularly expensive hobbies(with the exception of bbing), and I do find that eating the way I do makes me feel much better than eating the way I did before, so it's only a pleasure for me to spend the extra money on the food.

I see both your point and chainsaw's. However myself personally could not do this just as if I was rich and could not buy a mansion of unlimited size. It's just not how I think. I would think of so many better ways to spend the money like investing or socking it away. I mean we are talking 24k a year on food!

Nah you got me all wrong.  Everyone that has read my posts over the last 3 years
should know I'm really not like that.

I bust my ass telemarketing to be able to eat like this.  And believe me, I wish I
had a savings account.  Thats actually why I posted this, to get some input.
I probably could eat off of $80.00 if I had too, but I don't think I'd be happy though.
Not at first anyway.

I don't like chemicals and bacteria in my food,
and I'll pay extra to ensure that for my wife and I.
Especially with Raw Tuna.

You are very fortunate!

What do you say to a telemarketer when they call your house?  I've always wondered how those in the telemarketing game handle it.

I was a praising your endeavor for working very hard, to bring forth $500 of food to feed your household.  How many teenage children do you and your wife have together; and does your inlaws and parents live with y'all?  Makes a big difference when there's many to feed at home; and especially with family members having allergies to certain foods.
