yeh, good book....Ive read it a few times but I lost it on holiday.
Dorian himself wasnt a saint, according to Wayne Demilia when the european shows were on (3 shows consecutively) Dorian would not compete unless the prize money for first place was $15,000 in all 3 shows compared to the original $10,000.
But when Dorian became promoter and did the british grandprix he did the complete opposite, he attempted to lower the price money from the original $10,000 for first so the athletes would get less money overrall.
Sure the costs of running these shows are a fortune but he wasnt doing the bodybuilders any favours.
That said, Dorian did deny it so really it just comes down to who is more credible; Dorian or Wayne?
Wayne never took any bullshit, he was an autocratic leader who took charge of a sport that revolved around controvorsey!
Bodybuilders always bitched and moaned to him whether it'd be the prize money or their placings but they never understood the systematic approaches he took to run the IFBB or promote contests such as the Mr Olympia.
Finances, sponsors involved, marketing aspects etc; its not easy to hype up a contest when you already knew the winner a year beforehand.
The general consensus is true, bodybuilders aren't very smart and so thats why they needed someone like Wayne to organize them whether they loved or hated him.
