Musculardevelopment.com has just gotten word that "The Predator", Kai Greene, has chosen to skip the 2008 Mr. Olympia contest. Despite being a dream of his since he was a young boy, Kai feels the time just isn't right. After placing 3rd at the Arnold Classic and winning the New York Pro Show earlier this year, he wants to give his body a much needed rest so that he can properly prepare for his assault on the 2009 season.

His gut isn't Mr. Olympia quality yet so it's a good move. Taking a year off will definitely help him.

What ever happend to the smart bodybuilder!!...This is a great move...if you are an althlete there NO PLACE BUT FIRST PLACE...Kai has the testicular fortitude to realise he can do better with more improvement...its not stupid its buisness and i commend him!!!

I'm thinking it's another move due to health reasons. This has happened a few times in the past, Flex Wheeler being one of them. He sat out a Grand Prix show for some reasons unknown, but prior to that he was in the hospital due to health problems. I think this was after the '02 O, but I'm not sure of that. Next thing you know, he's retired and it's due to his kidney problem. But it's not related to the diuretics or the steroids used in the past (at the time).
Maybe the latest rumors of Kai being in ill health are true? Who knows. When a bodybuilder tells the truth about things, is the day a snowball lives through its journey the fiery depths of hell.

If he thinks he needs the rest...smart move. If he thinks he needs improvement...bad move. I don't think Kai can get much bigger while keeping symmetry and conditioning.

why would he work so hard for the NY Pro - stay in contest shape for 6 weeks after the Arnold - then sit out another 10 months?

He was ramping up for the O, and ten weeks out, he's suddenly calling it quits. This isn't a planned break. Something happened.

Maybe it was the new drug policy, maybe it was the health. But he planned to do that show (I'm sure the latest MD in the cover - after the branch side tri cover - will talk about his O prep).

I dont have a digital camera, hence why I borrowed a cell phone last week....cant fix what you dont have.
