Bush considers pulling out of iraq FASTER
« on: July 13, 2008, 09:53:36 AM »
WASHINGTON — The Bush administration is considering the withdrawal of additional combat forces from Iraq beginning in September, according to administration and military officials, raising the prospect of a far more ambitious plan than expected only months ago.

Such a withdrawal would be a striking reversal from the nadir of the war in 2006 and 2007.

One factor in the consideration is the pressing need for additional American troops in Afghanistan, where the Taliban and other fighters have intensified their insurgency and inflicted a growing number of casualties on Afghans and American-led forces there.

More American and allied troops died in Afghanistan than in Iraq in May and June, a trend that has continued this month.

Although no decision has been made, by the time President George W. Bush leaves office on Jan. 20, at least one and as many as 3 of the 15 combat brigades now in Iraq could be withdrawn or at least scheduled for withdrawal, the officials said.

How does anyone ever think we can draw down troops in Iraq without the place going to hell again.  We will be occupiers as long as we need middle eastern oil.  This rhetoric is simply kool aid for the masses.  The Iraqi army will disintegrate without the foundation of the U.S. military.

exactly.  The only thing Bush has for sure proved during all his years is that you cannot believe anything he says.

Good thing we now have McCain or Obama going into office.

Straight shooters all the way with no political agenda in either of them.

So, which nations are in Afghanastan?  I'd hate to just see our troops redeployed.  Any military mission in the middle east needs to be a multi-nation endeavor and absolutely necessary.  We can't afford policing the middle east forever (both economically and with the cost of American lives).

The nation's top priority needs to be energy now...end the gridlock immediately. Multi-front energy approach.  We need to have immediate, short & long term plans for our energy independence so we can end these religious, oil & political battles in the middle east.  We must demand this of our leaders now.

Most countries have wised up and realize the war on terror is a joke.  Why would Europe sacrifice its people for dollar hegemony?  The Euro is on the rise which is a good thing for Europe.  No one cares about our stupid war anymore.  The Nations top priorities need to be getting rid of our two party system and our hijacked government by oil and big corporate interests.  As long as we have big oil men running our country we will never have an alternative energy policy.  Brazil is energy independent because the Brazillian government mandated it.  If our government mandated flex-fuel cars the free market would take care of the rest.  Flex-fuel is very different from hybrids.  I'd suggest the book Energy Victory by Robert Zubrin.  Very good read.
