Falling off the diet wagon question.
« on: July 13, 2008, 06:56:45 PM »
So lets say someone had a fairly good diet and excercise regiment, all the way it's suppose to be. Then for one day only for whatever reason they fell off the wagon. I'm talking like the large popcorn and coke at the movies, and like all-you-can-eat because it's family potluck day or whatever...

How bad is it really going to be? Would they gain like 10 lbs from it? Or maybe it's like your body passes it thru if it's just a one time (day) thing?

Someone who knows... please share your expertise...

10 lbs ? no.

youll hold a whoel lot of water and you will put on SOME fat, but it should also spike your metabolism a little bit, cause some muscle growth, and after a few days of clean eating your body wont be bloated anymore and you will probably look just about the same as you did before.

I think youre right, but it also depends on how youre dieting, how long youve been dieting, and how far off of the deepend you go.  I think 10lbs is definitely possible, but most of it will be sodium induced water retention that quickly goes away.  In all reality, it can be VERY beneficil to your system to do it occasionally.

It shouldn't do too much damage as long as it doesn't lead to more falling and cheating.  If it is happening more than once a week that is too much.
