???  Does not address my point.  Nader drew liberals, not independents.  Perot was an independent, not a libertarian. 

Polls show that barr could steal away 5% of the vote.  Most of what he grabs will be from Mccain.
Polls show it already.  Looka t the NBC/WSJ poll from thursday.  mccain is only behind by one point in head-to-head matchups.  When voters have the ability to choose nader or barr, 5% chose barr, and mccain dropped significantly.

Barr doesn't appeal to obama voters.

Barr is running as a libertarian.  He'll get whatever libertarians generally get in presidential elections, which isn’t much. 

I think most conservatives and independents who spend time looking into his background and listening to him talk will see what a pompous fool the guy is.

if he steals a few thousand votes in a few states, those states go Obama's way. 

barr is teh worst thing that can happen to mccain in close states.
