There's only one Paul Sullivan on the cast list of "Over the top" and this dude is dead.

Maybe Keith starts mixing up the names of his plenty C-List celeb-"friends".

Keith keeps close book with his so called "friends" trouble is none of them can remember him :(

Completely worth it IMO.

Really?  Well I guess it's a good thing that we have some social programs in place to help people who 'run into bad luck'.  Probably created by some liberal pussy democrat...bleech...I see say let him rot in the van, it's what Jesus would want!

This country was built on individual American innovation, ingenuity and know-how.

The same tenets that can be used today by the individual.

You can go further as an individual more than awaiting handouts.

He chooses to be in the van.

Oh, and I hate church. Hurts my knees, all the sitting and standing.

Paul is really a nice guy who has had so much bad luck.  In Over The Top he weighed about 300.  He has benched over 500.  He is a direct desendant of John L Sullivan the former Heavyweight boxing champion.  So he wanted to get into boxing and about a few years after the movie I saw him he was weighing around 195 and looked incredible.  He got some disease in his leg and it fucked him up.  He is very smart about nutrition and steroids.  He has had just some bad luck.

What kind of disease did he get in his leg....or was it a staph infection?

I think all of us remember him in Over the top.  One of the biggest guys in that movie.  I seriously could not recognize him in BSF.  He looked nothing like his former self

I thought the whole movie was sad. Everyone looked like shit and they either were completely caught up in that bullshit, drug lifestyle, and they were constantly justifying to convince themselves it's fine because there are other drugs or worse drugs, great American logic.

This country was built on American innovation???  HAHA as opposed to French or Nigerian innovation?  Wait a minute...why dont we take a real look at "American innovation"?

Immigrants from 1870 to 1920 made possible America's economic growth and rise to prominence as a global power. Yet these newcomers also faced unjust persecution from nativists
(moosejay types)who sought the aid of government to stifle further immigration.

During the past two centuries, small businesses comprised over three-fourths of America's economy. Small businesses were a sector most crucial and unique to America, as, with scant initial capital, any intelligent man with a profitable idea could quickly rise to financial security.

The small business field was, without exaggeration, dominated by immigrants. In every U.S. census from 1880 onward, immigrants accounted for a greater percentage of small business owners than natives. These businesses greatly expanded the country's productivity and job openings, creating jobs for immigrants and natives alike.

Moreover, immigration fueled industrialization. In 1910, foreign-born persons comprised about 53% of the national industrial labor force. So not only did immigrants carry the small business field; they played an indispensable role in large industries as well. One can say with certainty that America would not have reached the status of a global economic power in those days were it not for the contributions of immigrants.

Despite these overt contributions to American prosperity, immigrants encountered a great deal of political regulation and outright opposition from nativist groups allied with the legislature.

But wait Moosejay!  All of these people and further generation created America by themselves, by their own bootstraps..not 'waiting for a handout'?!!   How can this be???  We all know immigrants are a drain on societies resources...using up public monies and waiting on handouts?  How can this be???

Wait Voice of Doom...is there more???

It's a good thing that generation of immigrants didn't receive any 'socialized' help, huh...wait...there was that pesky 'Homestead Act' of 1862...hmm...is that the one where public tax money offered land and housing to immigrants???  BAH..thats communism is action right there!  I'll stand for none of that!  Wait though...1870 to 1920 is considered the third greatest times of economic boom in American history!  Must be a coincidence.  Because after 1920 American Business Greed really got back in control of government policies and got rid of all that anti-trust, anti-monopoly legislation and social programs that had started organizing after the Kaiser model in Germany which came to this country by the largest wave of German immigrants around that time.  But it was good times for business right?  Murdering labor organizers, paying corrupt police to 'break up' unions gatherings..and by break up, I mean with bats.  We had no child labor laws, no employee rights laws, 12 hour workdays, no safety net for worker accidents and no pesky minimum wage.

Those were damn good times I say...right up until that pesky 'Great Depression' 9 years later.  Seems like anti-regulation turned out not to be so good to the 'commonwealth' of American.  I think it says something in the Constitution that one of governments responsibilities is 'to provide for the general welfare and commonwealth of its citizens'...but maybe I'm misquoting???

Of course it was a socialist president that created the 'New Deal' that saved the country as we know it and put millions of Americans back to work building things like, buildings, roads, bridges, national parks, federal housing.  He also created government oversight for the food and water of the nation, gave those pesky veterans a free ride to college after WW2 (commie!) that ushered in the second greatest time of economic prosperity in American History!  Thank god he died, huh?  Whew...

But then we had Reagan in the 80's that helped deregulate and dismantle many of those 'unsuccessful' social programs of the New Deal.  He helped break up those irritating unions and cut funding for single mothers, college students, elderly and the mentally sick.  But it was good times for business eh Moosejay?!  Well, up until Black Monday and the Savings and loan scandal in 88 where millions of Americans were swindled by unethical business practices...which was rescued (bailed out) again by government (our) tax money.  Of course this sinking of the economy unfairly did in Bush the 1st's reelection...something about the economy stupid???

Then that Clinton socialist came in and America enjoyed 8 years of the greatest economic boom of all time...probably another coincidence...but thank god we got rid of him and Gore so we could have the current 8 years of magnificent prosperity we've enjoyed right?  Nevermind that public tax money will once again be used to save huge industries like Fannie May and Freddie MAc (private companies that made a killing after they were deregulated in 2001-2002)

I mean we're all better off right now, right?  I mean all of us Moosejay...right?

Right?

Right?

Hmm, my brain's starting to hurt...maybe I need to go see what's on FOX news to quiet it down again.

Jon Lindsey injected some bad juice when he used to compete in 88, 89... had to have half his ass cut out at the Veterans Hospital in Balboa Park...... very nasty infection.

Bob Schry ( he might have been in jail when you were at PB Gold's) had numerous abcesses in his ass from needle punctures and scar tissue, it would get infected and he would get the scar tissue cut out surgically. Nasty!

slight difference between a 25 year old living in a van until he gets established in a new town, and a 50 year living in a van in the town he's been in most of his life.

True-but it all comes down to one thing basically, lack of income.

Lack of income usually, but not always, comes down to not having a usable skill or trade to make $$$$, and that can be caused by the ecomony more than anything else.

Many times a person is stuck living in a car/van due to bad circumstance beyond their control.
