Walked away from Powerlifting
« on: July 28, 2008, 06:58:03 PM »
Hey Guys,

I have officially walked away from competitive benching and focusing 110% on getting my fatass in shape. I've said before I was gonna drop weight but when my bench dropped I'd quit and start eating like shit again to gain back weight.

Well this time I have totally eliminated the bench from the program and have leaned more towards a BB style training. Including Abs and Cardio!!! Hahaha give me a year I'll have abs and I might even buy me some posing trunks. Uhhh Yeah nevermind that wont happen!!!!

I've gotten away from the BIGGER and STRONGER mindset and will be focusing on the LEANER and FITTER mindset. A few health problems and my father in law having a massive heart attack at 53 made me deadset on this.

I am now 333 pounds still way down from the start at 420 pounds 2 yrs ago. But I will make it to 240 one way or another!!!

I did the same thing when my daughter was born.  After being 280 for 10 years, I knew it was time for a change (I am 5'9").  All those years of grinding and a list of injuries a mile long, I knew I couldn't keep it up.

I am now around 235 and I feel fantastic.  Of course, 500 on the bench would crush me now, but I could give two shits less. Longevity is your friend.

That shows that even though you are giving up something you really care about, you have the discipline and intelligence to make the right choice. Health is important. Trust me.

This is me 10 pounds ago I'm about an inch smaller in the waist already and more def in the shoulders. I'm deadset on dropping to under 250. There is alot of shit at 300 plus you just cant do. Like rollercoasters with my kids and doing the tree top canopy tour at our National Forrest here in Ohio.

I just did my last contest lift, I did and exhibition at our High School Lift A thon on Saturday. I did 500 raw for 6 reps pretty easily, so now I'm done!!!

I've just made alot of cuts in the junkfood department. I have ate extremely clean for the last 2 yrs getting my BW all the way down to 318 from 420. But like I said when my weight would get down under 320-330 my bench would drop and I'd start eating crap to get my weight back up.

So I have cleaned it way up and have implemented 1/2 hr cardio on my weight training days and walking 2.1 miles on my off days. I'm eating about 12 pounds of Chicken a week plus 300 grams of protein drinks per day. I'm still sponsored by At Large Nutrition and Chris is helping me out alot with this. He knows my body as well as I do.

eating about 12 pounds of Chicken a week plus 300 grams of protein drinks per day.

that's 540g protein a day + the protein of whatever else you're eating.
