welcome back!

congrats on that flex magazine photo.  Good luck in the PT realm.  Stay busy and keep your hands off clients, and you'll do fine.

ISSA = probably one of the best/most recognized (cost around $500 to $600 for study materials)
test was hard tho............involved kinesiology,anatomy/valves of the heart etc, biology, essays etc etc
most gyms take 50 - 75 % of your hourly rate (say you charge $80 per hour gym would take $40 or more of it)
some gyms your an independent contractor (this is the way to go!)...you pay the gym "rent" (anywhere from $500 to $800 per month) u keep 100% of what you make ............some gyms pay you an hourly rate (most LA-Fitness gyms)

$ 8 bucks per hr (not the way to go!)
and then you could always open ur own lil PT studio (a great idea!)
if you look the part/have a lot of knowledge...are personable friendly (and are in the right area ie: where there is money!)

you will do quite well!

I did the ISSA and yes the material can be difficult unless you take the online test.  Its a breeze at that point since you can google what you don't know or just reference the book.  You can log in and out as you like also.

Either way I wouldn't get too caught up in which certification you have.  You need to be able to sell yourself and have some other source of income at first if you actually have bills to pay.

funny thing is most yahoos who get that degree know nothing about training..all the book learning cannot make up for the training aspect at least arvilla has both..

It's a matter of whether you can produce results for the clients.

Right it really means nothing other than a piece of paper that makes you more "hireable" to a soccor mom looking for a trainer.  Thats why I would just get one that is fairly recongnizeable and such.

ACSM or NSCA. The tests are surpervised and they are the top 2. Most high-end clubs won't accept these mail-in certs. It helps weed out a future law suit. 95% of people that hire trainers could care less about being a bodybuilder. You must know how to train post-rehab, obese, elderly and other special populations. A degree is not important; however it does help attract clients. The goal is to get them to come to you.

Fuck all these certificates. You need to look good, have a friendly and confident appereance, being good at small talk and have to know how to market yourself, than you can make good money as personal trainer.

Don't waste time and money on bullshit certificates, nobody will ever ask you for.....they won't teach you anything you don't already know.
