The war in Iraq is about oil...but it's not about getting it cheaper to American citizens, not when BIg Oil is making record profits (thanks Bush/Cheney).  It's not even about getting the Oil out of the ground.  It's just about controlling the largest untapped reserve in the world.  We don't have to pump it.  Controlling the ground it occupies gives the US veto power over the European Union and the growing Asian powers.

The Problem for you Mark Kerr is your assumption that American foreign policy is designed to help or protect average citizens...it isn't.  It hasn't been since the Spanish American war.
