Yes, i find Dwayne's tattoos loathsome and ogreish, however, i respect his decision to deface his body.

Dwayne chose to disfigure his body by scarring it with unsightly tattoos.

Unfortunately, tattooing is enjoying a fad-status. Many more insecure attention seeking individuals will go down the path that Dwayne has opted for.

FACT: Tattoos fade and blur. Images become unrecognisable.

Tattoos are like a T-Shirt; they become old, irrelevant and grubby after many years of use!!!!!

no offence but that's a stupid statement.
he could be using moderate doses of HGH (4-6 IU) to stay lean and give him the rock hard look to his muscle and he would not have any of the things you mentionned.

His islander roots are merely an excuse for him to get inked up!

Dwayne's existence is based upon attention, praise and acknowledgment. His tattoos symbolically reflect this .

Bottom line, where does it ever end with this guy??

Yes, tattooing the body is an ancient craft. Its inception can be traced back thousands of years. The connection to the warrior-ideal has indeed been confirmed.

My point is, in today's world its relevance is simply 'in connection' with 'fad-appeal'...This may come as a revelation to many.

Dwayne is simply a representation of this shallow capitalistic indoctrinatory construct.

Put simply, he is just another inked-up-puppet, following a materialistic-trend that is as 'hollow and self-obsessed' as getting 'hair plugs'.

Yeah but the difference is that Dwayne is now an A-list celebrity and makes about 15 million per film and has the lead role in some major box office movies.

That may be true if Dwayne hadn't donated millions of dollars to youth programs in Samoa. Dwayne prides himself on his Samoan heritage. He also went through the traditional and painful process of getting the tattooed.

Back when Dwayne first starting getting it done I think he said it took something like 12 straight hours per day over 3 days and he became very ill from infection. He got it done by some native in a tin roof hut in Samoa.
