The thing about tatoo's is that they can be gotten for the wrong reasons or the right reasons. Back when I was 15 I wanted to fit in so bad, most of you know by now that Im half Laos and half Irish, and basically got made fun of by both whites and asians.

Basically then to fit in I had to be crazier and badder then everyone else, so when a Lao friend made a home made tatoo gun with a tiny motor and pen I was the first to say tat me up. Got a huge tat on my back that says LAOS. Needless to say that I got in a shit load of trouble with my parents.

Definetly got if for the wrong reasons, but honestly today, 15 years later, I don't mind it at all, kind of helped me to realize that you shouldn't do things simply to impress others, and fuck fitting in, if you don't like me fuck off; white, asian, black, mexican, who gives a shit.

I agree with Hank; it just screams poseur.

People think tatts automatically confer some kind of individuality; really it just shows that you're a follower.

Actions make the person, not ink.

There are exceptions of course.

I have some friends with beautiful tats, and they can honestly say they just love the work.

Holy shit james... are u capable of rational thought? If your last post is any indication of your intelligence level, then I'm going to say you are very narrow minded.

I'd love u to let your friends know what u "really think" about tats. You isolate people who get tats to having the mindset of needing attention. Yet, you justify your "friends" as the exception just because u know them "on the inside" or more about them as individuals... but u judge a person u never met before as being a follower?

You can tell if someone is doing it for the right reasons.

I mean, if you saw someone that was clean cut, and then a few weeks later they're getting sleeves with nautical stars and the like...

well, what does that tell you?

They're doing it to gain acceptance; no other reason.

Unfortunately, I think MOST people do it for that reason.

Not all.

If I hang out with a tatted person, or give them a tatt, it's because they do it for the right reasons.

I wouldn't hang out with them otherwise.

that shoulder piece there is a paul booth piece right off the flash rack.... I have probably seen it in half a dozen shops... lots of real estate for an off the wall design.... might have a couple small mods to it but its pretty much one of his designs from one of his popular flash sets.
