Prayers with you. Thank you for your service to protect us and our way of life. I think myself and any American on here would buy you a beer and listen to your stories if given the chance.

Why are we thanking him?We should be pitying him for having to go to a place where there is no hope of conflict resolution or point of being thereof.
Wow, wow, hold on now! We're there to bring democracy to the place, not make into an Arnold Schwarzenegger stunt set.We want to make friends, not enemies. We've got plenty of the later.
'hearts and minds' means more than 'two to the chest, one to the head'

Exactly! Yet he goes because he's ordered to. I don't see you out there, and neither am I. Hence the thanks.
The argument that "he is going so we don`t have to" is not valid. Nobody has to go. The armed forces are strictly volunteer. Anybody who is there is there by choice. I don`t hear any of you giving plaudits to Crab Fisherman or Electrical workers, or Construction workers. All 3 have a higher death rate per capita by occupation.Interesting side note:The founding fathers also did not want a standing army whatsoever after the Revolution. Especially the great Thomas Jefferson. He regarded a standing army as a threat to the people`s own sovereingity and counter-intuitive to everything the Revolution was supposed to fix.
