I understand that it is put to a vote...

But how do they justify what gets in and what does not? How does BMX and synchronized diving get in for next time in London, and Softball and Baseball do not? I guarentee that exponentially more people play softball and baseball than synchronized dive or race bikes. Does anyone over 15 even care about the BMX events?

Why is tennis an event, and not golf?

Why is rugby and cricket not in the olympics?

I think that everything that could even remotly be considered a sport should be included. If there is a time/venue constraint, get rid of the obscure events first.

What say you?

you have to be realistic... i mean, a baseball game? I think it comes more down to a very FEW GREAT individuals who can offer extreme performance in a structured set of events. Golf takes all day... come on man. its like saying "why not have NASCAR, they got drag racing.." see what i mean?

That makes no sense.

But speaking of NASCAR... I think that should get a look as well. Equestrian is an event.....

ok let me make it easy...

Nascar is a huge fucking event that takes a LONG TIME

drag races are very quick and easy

GOLF IS VERY LONG, there is hardly any "excitement" comparable to that of michael phelps and another guy toe to toe

therefore, u cant just have "football" and "baseball" games playing in an arena.. jesus, what ar eu gonna do have a group of american all stars playing china or australia?

As would I.

How come it's not in? It's played all over the world...

And Boon... by your logic we shouldn't have the marathon or that 60k 'power-walk' in there either.

great topic...I actually caught "Horse jumping" as part of the olympics, and this same question came to mind.

if horse jumping is allowed, why not horsing racing? or car racing?

Rugby's already been ruled out for the 2012 Olympics, but is in consideration for the 2016 Olympics.
I think the time factor may be a reason since the Olympics are over in a couple of weeks

What kind of time would a rugby competition need to run?

probably a month at least - regular 15 side.
Rugby 7's would be better suited to the olympics

The 7 man competition is what's under consideration for the 2016 games.

The Olympics are a big business. If you flash the cash, anything can get in, or so it seems. They just "pretend" to have rules sometimes.

With that being said, I'd love to see powerlifting in the games. Maybe they can bump curling.
