been long and really confusing yr as yankee fan, just can get it going, offense is dreadful all yr down in runs which they always lead league in,hrs ,hitting in key situations,i actually miss torre.pitching been spotty but not horrendous, defense other than jeter is bad.no winning streaks.bad baseball all in 200 million payroll.i give the redsox credit for updating and trading manny and keep rolling along, they have good farm system, yank don't :-\.

Having Torre would have changed absolutly nothing.  He was a poor in game manager after 2001.  If you think Jeter's defense is the good thing about the Yanks, I don't know what to say.

Yanks lost their #1 starter, starting catcher for the year,  and left fielder for most of the season.  They have been playing with a rotation missing 3/5 of their opening day starters, in addition to losing Chamberlain.  Yes, the offense has failed at times, but I've been saying since the ASB that they wouldn't be able to overcome the losses of their pitchers unless they made a significant move, which they didn't.  They apparently didn't want to lose prospects to acquire a Sabthia, Harden, or try to pry Burnett away.

Yanks farm system is stacked at A and AA.  Just be patient.  There's over 80+ million off the books this year, and also the right people to spend it on.  The team has made the playoffs 13 straight years - it can't happen every year.

yeah u get spoiled.chamberlain is real good, losing posads hurt in many ways, jeter is playing gold glove short i think, nady was good pickup for r/f nx yr.they could have had burnett when jays were dead at all star break.to me the trade for santana blew up in there face, melky and kennedy and hughes and other lower level prospects in different proposals were rejected,he would have been good fit,u lose wang then what.

If it was Wang + Hughes for Santana, I agree, the asking price was too much.  Especially when you can potentially get Sabathia and keep both of them.

I'm not sure if Burnett was ever on the table, did you see anything?

Nady is a decent pickup, especially considering what they gave up.  Just keep in mind he's having a career year.  He'll be good for next year, but, on paper, it appears the Yanks will need another OF to bridge the gap to Austin Jackson.

on paper this looked like a great team, older but the young guys like melky, hughes.cano were supposed to infuse that youth, cano is an enigma, step up and put up soriano type numbers already .

It did.  Until they lost 3/5s of their Opening Day roation, their starting C, their starting LF, as well as Chamberlain.  The offense has also underperformed in spots.  Wait on Hughes, he was pitching with a broken rib.  He's only 21 years old.

I totally agree on Cano - I think he has a tendency to  be lazy.
