i visited a few production plants and i have to say i love the attitude these people have towards working. when they do something, they seem to do it 100%, in every part of life.

Well we always joke that asians are the best workers, i guess its true.

Even the asians here in Aus (not just japs) always work really hard and are pretty focused on what they do, regardless of how glamorous the job may or may not be...
No doubt about it...

good point.

I have never seen someone in Japan doing his job half assed, not even the elevator girls in the big department stores or in hotels.

This = the reason why asia is the future and lazy ass americans commit suicide with their own credit cards.

It's a different way of life. If it's better is questionable.
I prefer working reasonable hours and not having to take everything so seriously at work.

Asia has been the future for quite some time now.

There is a downside to it all; many Japanese and Koreans are overworked and because both societies are yes man cultures where no one can ever have a disagreement which a superior or even talk about it, there is additional stress. This manifests itself in depression, insomnia and anxiety disorders that are simply not talked about either in Korean or Japanese society. Another thing that is not so good is the lack of creativity; a Japanese or Korean person trying to fell a tree just chops at the same spot 10,000 times whereas an American or a European would assess the weak points and chop in down in 10. Just trying to be fair and balanced...

A Japanese business partner once told me how personal finances are managed in Japan:
Regular pay checks are put into an account, which is completely controlled by the wife. The man only gets pocket money. If he gets to a certain level of wealth, he opens up another account, where additional money is transfered to by the company, which he basically needs to afford his concubines. Any truth to that?

My understanding is that women don't "control" the finances, rather, paying the bills and running the household is their responsibility in the same way that a traditional Western man would expect his wife to have dinner on the table when he gets home.  She might handle the money for household expenses but he would still be the HNIC.  Your business partner sounds like quite the nyobo koko no teishu.  ::)

Concubines?  Haha.  I'm sure it still happens, like the Soprano's guma, but I bet most guys would simply take a prostitute.  Old drunken businessmen with a group of beautiful young women is a very common sight and doesn't seem to be frowned upon anywhere near as much as in the West.

Japan is definitely a man's country.  A lot of Westen women would find the place overtly sexist.

Hey DK, how was the trip?  I've been meaning to PM you since I took up judo recently.  Have you studied any martial art in Japan?  Been to the Kodokan by chance?

Yes, but in a great sense.

3 weeks without arabs, nignogs, screaming idiots, robbing or stealing beggars, literally NO SCUM at all.

What...did you have a 3 week out-of-body experience?  ::)

Actually Deicide is a death metal band formed in 1987 in Tampa, FL (first under the name Carnage and then Amon when they changed some of the members of the band, when signed with Roadrunner Records in 1989 they changed it to Deicide). The band sold close to 500,000 releases making them one of the best selling death metal bands of all time. Their albums Deicide and Legion are ranked 2nd and 3rd place in best-selling death metal albums of that era.   ;)
