You know what McCain could do...
« on: August 29, 2008, 11:55:38 PM »
Run with Palin for a month.  Get all the hilary voters to fall in love with her, and decide mccain is their man.
Sure, you'll have a lot of voters upset he didn't choose a more experienced person, or someone with economic experience.  If he's behind in polls in a month...

Have her withdraw at the end of September due to "family obligations" or something similar.

Hvae Mitt Romney miraculously step in with his economic expertise.  Mccain could say that Palin will remain on the team in the cabinet or some special advisory role, highly involved in yada yada....

Women love to commit.  After the month of loving her, they'll stick with mccain.  Other voters will feel better than a man with economic skill is funally on the ticket.

Just a thought.  It could work.

how are the Hillary voters going to go for Palin?  Just because she's a woman?  That's assuming they're dumber than dumb.  If they had a single issue they were behind Hillary on, they're not going for Palin.  What I've heard so far is people pissed that McCain would ASSume such basically saying Hillary supporters are stupid.  Palin even said she wouldn't vote for Hillary because she is a "whiner"

she felt kind of bad she couldn't support a woman, but she didn't like Clinton's "whining."

not the best line to use to get support from Hillary's supporters lol..

If women love to commit as you say, this just sank that ship.

Plus it would be a stupid move if that's McCain's plan.  He'll appear a day late and a dollar short.

You are right for 90% of them.  But there will be the 10% who just vote 'woman'.

She obvously was chosen for her gender, not her vast experience or economic prowess.

On a side note, I was speaking with some pretty conservative repub friends of mine tonight... and they all said the same thing... "why in the world would mccain pick somebody like that, when there are so many more experienced and qualified people he passed over"?

it's a great question.  Romney was a governor too - for longer - and is a genius with economics.  Pawlenty knew a ton more about running a state- 6 years, plus a ton of nafta knowledge, energy and economy credentials.  Hitchinson was a female with 15 years in the senate- strong repub who works across the aisle.

He chose a pretty female.  It's that simple.

yup, there's no doubt this was a political stunt and not a serious choice for VP and potentially President.
