The one thing I've come to respect about Pat is that he usually is honest about what he is thinking unlike the typical pundit who reads from a pre-typed agenda.  In that regard this isn't unusual of Pat.  I'll be surpised when Pat votes for Obama, but that's not likley to happen.  Then again maybe Pat has had enough.  His number one enemy has been the neocons.  But he chose to vote them in and change their influence through the pen.  Maybe after 8 years of that failing, Pat sees there is only one way to cut team neocon's lifeline.  Doubtfull but possible.  It is pretty strong of him to say he stands with Obama.

I watch msnbc for about 6 hours daily.

Buchanan consistently admits flaws and mistakes of bush, tears Obama a new one daily for his inexperience, and is the most honest guy on there.  He says he's a republican and believes in repub core values, and has worked for a lot of repub white houses.  Remember, ppl thought he was deep throat from the nixon scandal for decades.
