Cindy: I'm Offended by Obama's Speech...
« on: August 30, 2008, 01:38:48 PM »
ABC News' George Stephanopoulos reports: Democrats' attacks on her family's wealth are unfair and offensive, Cindy McCain said today in an interview airing tomorrow on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."

For nearly two weeks, Democrats have repeatedly hit Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., for saying he is unaware of how many houses he owns, calling the presumptive Republican presidential nominee out of touch with everyday Americans.  In his acceptance speech at the Democratic convention on Thursday, Democratic nominee Barack Obama turned up the heat on McCain, saying he "doesn't know" about the lives of middle-class Americans.

"I'm offended by Barack Obama saying that about my husband," said McCain's wife Cindy.
When asked if Obama went too far in his criticism of McCain, Cindy responded, "I do. I do. I really do."

Its not McCain's fault Cindy and her family are successful.  I think its a bullshit argument that Obama's camp is using.  Let the McCain's have 7 houses or whatever...as long as they pay their property taxes!

John McCain wasn't always wealthy and has seen more terrible conditions in 5 yrs of captivity than Obama has ever dreamed of so that argument means nothing.  Once a person experiences a horrible situation like that it stays with them forever.  So, no matter how much $ they have now, McCain has seen the worst of times as well.

It is a bullshit argument, to bad McCain started it.  McCain went negative first, McCain when after Obama for being elitist.  Obama, unlike other pussies answered back.  I agree, we shouldn't even be wasting time with this kind of crap.  Had McCain kept his word to keep a postive campaign, we wouldn't be here, but he was down in the polls and said fuck that.  Please call McCain's office and tell him we don't want to see this shit.

True, its just a waste of time and BS party vs party political banter.  But its been more a pattern of democrats to criticize wealthy successful candidates.  If a person is rich by success and gives to others in whatever way they want (service, charity, etc)...they are just fine in my book.

in this case, it was McCain who started it and Obama who responded.  One of the big criticisms of Kerry was that he buried himself by thinking he was above the negative campaigning.  So Obama is rightly firing back with the same when hit low.

Of course, he went too far. But, McCain will do the same, when he goes upside Obama's head next week.

I fail to see it as "an attack on his wealth". It a reflection on the man himself. He truly IS out of touch!

It ain't like Barack Obama is on welfare or Michelle Obama is using WIC to buy groceries.

All four on the respective tickets got loot. So, I don't get why one would accuse the other about being "out of touch". If Barack was broke before, he ain't broke now and hasn't been for decades.

Declaring him "out of touch" is polite & diplomatic, ...because if he's not out of touch, ...he simply doesn't care.

How else would one rationalize policies that fail to take into account the reality of the lives of the majority of Americans. McCain's policies which are an extension of Bush's failed policies for the past 8 years, are hurting American's not helping them. These policies help the richest 5% of Americans but do little for the guy.

It's not about how much money the candidate has, but rather whether that money has blinded them to the reality of life for every day Americans. Obama is in touch with main street. McCain is not. Obama understands that what is good for Main street benefits Wall Street. mcCain approaches it from a different perspective... helping Wall Street and thinking it will 'trickle down' to the masses. It doesn't work that way. It has to start from the foundation up.

If you own a small business (making at least $250,000), Obama's tax-hikes could hurt you BIG TIME, perhaps to the point where a bunch of "little guys" get fired, due to budget cuts

McCain's approach is that Main Street, Wall Street, and every street in between the two, should keep as much of their hard-earned $$$$$ as possible. It ain't the president's job to definie how "rich" someone is, and thus, how much money he can suck from them.

Plus, when Obama realizes he can't pay for all his grandiose program by taxing the "rich", guess who gets sodomized next..........the "little guys".

Neil Cavuto made a good point to an Obama supporter on his show. Notwithstanding the housing issue over the last 2 years, explain why more minorites owned their own homes under Bush (whom Cavuto jokingly stated that this Obama supporter thought was Satan and Lucifer) than they did under Clinton.

Well Cindy should be an expert on offending people; as safe to say sleeping with a married man and stealing from a children's charity when she was loaded enough to buy her drugs anyway offends people.

I think the whole point of complaining about ppl being rich is stupid anyway [who wants a broke ass in the White House?] but the McCain camp did start that calling him elitist...they should have not went on that tack. It's all irrelvant on both sides.

Uhh...Barack and Michelle just paid off their student loans eight years ago. That is something many of us can relate to.  ;) If you know Barack's story, you'll know that he tried to attend the Democratic National Convention in 2000 when he didn't know anyone and couldn't get in. Upon leaving, he tried to rent a car and his credit card was declined.

Barack knows the plight of the average working class American who lives from paycheck to paycheck from first hand experience.

McCain has seen the worst of conditions as a POW for FIVE YEARS.  None, of us can imagine that.  That scars a person more than any monetary debt or loan.  It builds character on a grand scale IMO.

"Plus, when Obama realizes he can't pay for all his grandiose program by taxing the "rich", guess who gets sodomized next..........the little guys"

This quote is very true and troubling.  I see Obama going outside just higher taxation of incomes 250K & over.  The socialist way is to increase a variety of taxes.  He needs to address spending...and I see him contributing to the problem.  We need an approach like Ron Paul where the gov needs to spend less as its first priority.

The increased power granted to the top 1% has causes greater than income tax.  Closing corporate loopholes and freebees would adress this issue much better than increasing income tax.  Families making 250,000 per year are NOT ultrawealthy!
