if he is a mesomorph he does not need our help he sounds like a ectomorph to me.....all a mesomorph has to do is lift a weight a couple times a week and he will get stronger and bigger I knew a buy who didnt even lift weights hardly in college after I left for the summer he stayed for summer school came back and he was heavier he didnt lift, but for kicks and giggles we went to the gym he benched 315lbs for 6 before the summer he was doing 275 for 6 and he didnt lift all summer just ate and ate really theres very true mesomorphs.  your nephew is a ecto for sure just tell him to eat everything in sight..........

Just eat lots of protein and healthy carbs.  Cut out a lot of high glycemic carbs and sugars.  Also don't let him put on more than 10 lbs of fat.  Too many kids with decent bodies want to get bigger just end up getting fatter, or put on 30lbs of fat and 5 lbs of muscle.

He probably won't make it to 300lbs at 5% bf without steroids.
Maybe 230 lbs at 5% would be more realistic.

Do you think 230 is too much?  Or is 5% bf on a natural impossible?  Remember the kid is 6'4"

although i think some of hte info provided might be a stretch..i've seen some local highschool kids in my day that have fit that bill relatively well but not at 3.5 or 5% body fat...sub 10 but not THAT shredded. Because of his age his ass just needs to eat! Maybe a multivitamin and a solid meal replacement like maximus or nitrean from aln but nothing beyond that. His body is so loaded with natural nut juice that he needs to focus on two things, gym time and eating.

lol, yeah right  ::) unless your friends dad was seriously juicing, thats BS...

No natural will EVER be 285lbs at 3.5%. Regardless of height.
No doubt about it...

I am 6' 4" and weight 208. with estimated 13% body fat.
Tell him to eat PBJ 6 x day and hit the weights hard, He will start packing on the muscle.

Why not actually eat good food?

You know, like chicken, beef, pasta, rice...
No doubt about it...

Again, a bad advice from you.

What is your obsession with junk food?

pb&j is not junk food when consumed in moderation! the kid is 17, and his growth hormones are in overdrive, and so is his metaolism, so he probably eat what he wants to for now and get away with it for a little while. consider the id a genetic 'FREAK". i wish i was his size at that age!   :(

Bullshit.

The fact that he might get away with it does not means it's beneficial for him.

organic peanut butter would be ok, but that usual stuff is full of saturated and transfats.

But why not eat better foods and make even better gains...?

Also, i think most people here don't understand that most people are a combination of different somatotypes. A 100% pure mesomorph is rare, very rare. The kid is 6'4, he is not a pure mesomorph. He is a mesomorph/ectomorph. You guys are making it sound like he will be 250lbs shredded in no time. It will be harder for him than you are making it out to be, hence the reason that taking his diet a little bit more seriously will be of benefit to him.
No doubt about it...

lots of complex carbohydrates and animal protein.  if he still has trouble gaining weight then add in some unsaturated fats (preferably mono, unless its o'3 or high gla o'6).

a good whey protien supplement.

you guys r too rigid and strict! let the poor fucker have his pb&j. deprive him of that, and he may grow up to be a psycopath who hides out on top of rooftops, waiting to blow people away with his high powered rifle!  ;D

i dont see anything wrong with a kid who has trouble putting on weight snacking on things like peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches.  However, lets wait untill he has a solid diet with consistant carbohydrate and protein intake before we recommend eating concentrated fructose and lots of extra dietary fat.  :)
