When you are dieting do people try to sabotage it by getting you to eat garbage.  I have been dieting and have dropped 27lbs and still have a lot more to lose and a friend sends this to me in an email:

(Actual text)  missy's b-day is saturday... wanna go with me to there place?  we're deep fyring doughnuts, twinkies and other things...

What the fuck, does she not care about my health and my appearance?

Does/has this happened to you?  What should I do?...and no I didn't go!

Go on no carb...you will lose fat ultra fast...
I hate the State.

7 empty calories a gram, distinct lowering of growth hormone and testo production; can you please explain to me how drinking massive quantities of alcohol is beneficial to a diet?
Where did he say he was drinking "massive" quantities for an extended period of time?  You are assuming too much.

I could drink everyday if I wanted and be contest ready year round.  Drinking a correct amount is beneficial.  You can even indulge a bit if you know what you are doing.

Nutiriton Facts for 1 Twinkie (hardly a diet spoiler):

    % DV**
Total Fat 4.5 g 7%
   Sat. Fat 2.5 g 13%

   Trans Fat 0 g
Cholesterol 20 mg 7%
Sodium 220 mg 9%
Total Carbs. 27 g 9%
   Dietary Fiber 0 g 0%
   Sugars 19 g

All right Smart Ass how many people "FAT" people that is are going to only eat one Twinkie?  I was stating a point about why would I wanna waste calories on a fucking Twinkie whewn I could eat something good for me, But you as always have to be a SAMARTASS!!!

I take in approx 3700 calories a day and really dont wanna waste 150 of them on a Fucking Twinkie. But of course you my friend are perfect and naturally lean so you dont know the damn struggle FAT people go through.

Your concerns for alcohol are GROSSLY overstated and not supportive of any real evidence as you are assuming a worst case scenario of drinking case after case or cask of wine a day.

Your argument around the margins as it is called is not practical.

Your argument is pointless because you are assuming 2 things.
1. Only "Fat" people eat Twinkies
2. If one is "Fat" therefore they are required to eat more than one of something.

This is not the case.

Your assumptions are based on nonsense.  Twinkies are sold in Double packs and as singles.  So at most people on average will consume either one or two as they tend not to buy more than one package.  Marketing statistics for Hostess will confirm this if you want to look it up.  So max we are talking 300 calories here for 2 Twinkies on average.

With that said, even if one had package after package of Twinkies, it is impractical to assume that they are sitting there consuming them by the 2s, 4s or dozens. I have been around a lot of fat people and have yet to see it happen.

AT 3700 calories a day and the amount of steroids you are on, it is rather absurd to be concerned about 150 calories and where they are coming from.  That is just a fine display of ignorance.

No, my genetics are not special.  Yes I can mantain 4 percent year round easily eating whatever I want and the same thing applies to everyone else.

When we started the diet I cut everything in half, we figured I was taking in about 10,000 calories a day to start when I was 420. We have slowly tappered it backo ver the last year and half or so and now we are at 3700 calories. It aint bad casue I know some days I dont even get that. I'm accustomed to it now, hell I'm eating a big salad right now :)  But  I will be lean :)

Dumbest advice yet.

Everyone has a different opinion concerning no carb; no one disagrees about calorie deficits being needed but it is a fact that different people react to different macronutrient combinations in individual ways. For me no carb, if I am going hardcore works best, and low carb works otherwise...I simply can't drop fat well on high carb.

the only reason anyone loses weight on low or no carbs is because of the total calorie drop from eliminating an entire macronutrient from your diet.

You don't think an optimisation of glucagon levels induced my minimal insulin production in beneficial to a person doing a diet?

Squadfather, no one is arguing about the need for a deficit, that is clear, but it is ridiculous to claim that individuals will not react differently to different macronutrient combinations whilst dieting.

I read a book some time back about the Mythology of food and how it has ruled popular culture and the Hostess statistics were in there.   The book tried to explain why people fear the foods they do and was very intriguing.  They asked people off the street how many calories were in a Twinkie and most said 1000.  Amazing how popular culture has created such myths that people now believe a made up fiction without even considering to look up the facts.  This runs true in all aspects of anything where humans are concerned.  Humans are good at one thing and will always be so....That one thing being myth-making.

Where is your evidence that you have "minimal insulin production"?

Did you have this verified and tested?  Or did you just make it up.  ;)

Little Known Twinkie Facts
It is maligned, it is copied, but most importantly, it is loved by millions of Americans.

The Twinkie is celebrating its 75th birthday this year. Yet, this simple yellow sponge cake filled with vanilla cream has managed to generate interest and even a bit of controversy over the years.

Meanwhile, a number of myths have cropped up over the years about Twinkies, including that the snack is top-heavy with calories.

"A Twinkie has only 150 calories and 5 grams of fat, lower than eating three Oreos cookies," said Kevin Kaul, Hostess brand manager in Kansas City, Mo..

Another is that they are created from only artificial ingredients.

"We use eggs, flour and sugar and some preservatives to keep them fresh, but there is nothing artificial about a Twinkie," he said.

Twinkies are made in seven plants scattered across the United States, and from the time they are made and packaged, Kaul said, they have a shelf life of 25 days.

"It's one of those myths (an indefinite shelf life) we'd love to see die," he said.

I said nothing of the sort. I am talking about the two antagonist hormones. It is a FACT that Glucagon and Insulin are antagonist hormones; either one is high and the other is one or the other way around. Glucagon is a very important agent involved in lypolysis; Insulin cranks down its production. Going low carb optimises glucagon production.

What you look like after eating a Twinkie a day for 64 years (and counting)

Above, Mr. Louis Browning of Shelbyville, Indiana.

In 1941, when he was a little boy, he started enjoying a daily Twinkie or two and just never stopped.

Now retired from his job as a milkman, he's consumed over 22,000 of the delectable delights and even appeared on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno."

Which is more than I can say for myself.

Twinkie manufacturer Hostess, recognizing the magnitude of Browning's achievement, has generously provided for a lifetime supply for the Twinkie's greatest fan.

You do realize, of course, that this month marks the 75th anniversary of the Twinkie.

Why else would Candy Sagon's story about the iconic treat have been featured on the front page of this past Wednesday's Washington Post Food section — above the fold — along with pictures of both Mr. Browning and Twinkies?

FunFacts:

• Back in 1930, James Dewar, manager of Chicago's Continental Bakery, wanted to find another use for the company's shortcake pans. He decided to fill the small, oblong cakes that resulted with banana-cream filling and named them after the "Twinkle Toes" shoes he had seen advertised on a billboard in St. Louis.

From such serendipitous associations do wonderful things result.

• Twinkies debuted as part of the Hostess baked-goods line, selling two for a nickel.

• During World War II, when there was a banana shortage, the filling flavor was changed to vanilla.

• The Twinkie has been manufactured in the same Chicago factory since 1930.

• Chicago also happens to be the city with the highest per capita consumption of Twinkies.

• Hostess turns out 1,000 Twinkies every minute, which amounts to 500 million — yes, half a billion — Twinkies every year. And sales are increasing.

• The cakes are baked for 10 minutes, then the cream filling is injected through three holes in the top, which is browned from baking. The cake is flipped before packaging so the rounded yellow bottom becomes the top.

• Roger Bennatti, a science teacher at George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill, Maine, kept a Twinkie perched atop his chalkboard for 30 years. "It's rather brittle, but if you dusted it off, it's probably still edible," he told the Associated Press when he retired last year.

• Theresa Cogswell, who calls herself "the Twinkie guru," is vice president for research and development at Interstate Bakeries Corp., the parent company of Hostess. She says she wouldn't want to eat Bennatti's 30-year-old Twinkie. "You can eat older Twinkies, but they're just not as good as when they're fresh. Then they're awesome." [Agreed. So stipulated. In fact, I've gotten such a hankering for one I'm stopping for a moment and taking a short trip down to the 7-11 for a package — or three]

• OK, where was I? Oh, yeah, Twinkie FunFacts.

• Cogswell stated that the shelf life of Twinkies is 25 days.

• Twinkies contain no dairy-based ingredients that could quickly go bad; they are basically flour, sugar (three types), oil, eggs and chemicals (preservatives and stabilizers).

• Twinkies contain 150 calories each — but what superb, exquisite, finger-licking good ones!

There is nothing to be avoided.  Even if getting ready for a contest.  You can eat anything you want so I do not understand the premise of this thread.

My appetite has gone down some but the first few weeks at 3700 calories was kind of hard. I still sometimes have a solid meal in place of one of my Shakes. And as long as I hit my goals I allow myself to splurge on a bad meal.

As for my strength it is staying and in some spots increased. I just did the 125's for a set of 10 on Dumbbell Shoulder presses this week and also did the 150's on Dumbbell Chest presses with my feet up for a set of 20 reps. My best there is like 23 with my feet down so yeah it is maintaining pretty good.

Actually he isn't. I use massive amounts of fine red wine combined with ice cream bars for carbing up.
