Homosexuality and bodybuilding?

Why would a person who say was very active in competing and judging in bodybuilding choose to keep their gay status secret?Hasnt the sport moved past these barriers?If the sport and its athletes wish to move firmly in to the 21st century,  these secret walls need to be torn down.A man should not have to live with a secret that should be embraced by him.

competing - because current amateurs and pros are still hoping to get endorsement contracts with supplement companies

judging - because the powers that be in the IFBB are not as enlightened as the fans
