The campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., likes to herald the independence of its new running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Officials of the Alaskan Independence Party say that Palin was once so independent, she was once a member of their party, which, since the 1970s, has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.

And while McCain's motto -- as seen in a new TV ad -- is "Country First," the AIP's motto is the exact opposite -- "Alaska First -- Alaska Always."

Lynette Clark, the chairman of the AIP, tells ABC News that Palin and her husband Todd were members in 1994, even attending the 1994 statewide convention in Wasilla. Clark was AIP secretary at the time.

"We are a state's rights party," says Clark, a self-employed goldminer. The AIP has "a plank that challenges the legality of the Alaskan statehood vote as illegal and in violation of United Nations charter and international law."


I'd like to hear some McCain supporters defend her choice to spend years as part of this radical group.

Will she start breaking up the USA if she wins?  Will she help Alaska seperate from the Union?  She joined a group whose main focus was that goal in 1994, and she addressed them from Gov's office in 2008.  That's a 14 year history of association with a radical separtist group.

8- Laughing on tape while someone calls a cancer survivor a bitch and a cancer
9- Fired the police chief and librarian while mayor as they did not support her and had legal fallout for it
10- Daughters baby daddy is a self proclaimed "f-ing redneck, who doesn't want kids and will beat people up"
11- Her mother in law is not sure what she brings to the ticket

That is in 2 years of massive digging by numerous media outlets, above was in about 100 hours of digging. Wonder how her list will look in a few weeks.

Plus compare to Biden which is more relevant.

The issue here is VP, so what is all the Biden drama, guy seems a touch boring really.

Actually quite a bit was known before.

CNN was talking about her months ago.
Many thought she would have been disqualified because of the state trooper stuff.

But she wasn't.

Most of the other stuff is kind of harmless and could actually work against the Democrats if they keep trying to exploit it.

Bullying her only makes them and the media look worse.

I don't know why she hasn't done an interview yet though.
