Also I will give you that if Sarah Palin was Shawn Palin (male) she would have never been chosen either.

Have Americans become so enamored with sex and race that we put more emphasis on it then actual experience and a record?

My answer is:  Proof is in the pudding...YES!

Maybe you should ask a black woman how she feels about it.

And anyone that voted for Bush has no business barking about a candidate's credentials.

But for the name of Bush, GW would've been selling shoes in Decatur Illinois.

I watched Obama revieled last night on CNN.  Interesting stuff.

I find it unusual that Barack was raised (and seeming raised well) and cared for by the white half of his family but he searched so hard for his black roots, then identified himself so strongly as black and sought out black culture, church, wife, ect.  I wonder why...its almost like he wants to get away from his white roots....but they were the side of the family that gave him everything.  Just unusual IMO.

I am not bi-racial but if I were, I would hope to be proud of both sides of my family (I suppose unless I was wronged in some way).

I don't necessarily agree with the title.  Yes, Barack was given a boost because of his race in that big institutions still practice affirmative action, but Barack is very intelligent with poise, ambition and charisma.  A person like that will find their way to important positions.

I agree, he should have stayed on with the community organizer position.

Obama is a pretty smart dude. If Obama wasn't black, he would probably be a republican.

You can criticize Obama for many things, but he's a smart guy.

If he didn't try so hard to associate with his black roots he would have a much harder time running.

It still remains to be seen whether Americans will vote for a black man, come election day. If he were white it would be a landslide for him.

If Obama was white he wouldn't have the youth vote or the black vote.  So essentially he would have nothing and not be running.  The end.

Nah, I don't give a fuck how a black woman feels about it.  Black females have more opportunity in this country than anyone else.

My question was rhetorical and I gave my answer.

WAY TOO MANY bi-racial people will spew some bullshit like this:  "it was only the Black community that accepted me, White people always looked at me weird and never really accepted me."

Slick Willie thought he was black....

Many Black people said he was the first Black president.  I really couldn't care less, I just look at his record and decide for myself.

Playing the Saxophone on Letterman or Leno made him Black I guess...sad.

Yes and there were so many Jews, Mormon's, Asian's, Hispanic's, Italian's, too.

Give it up, being Black today is a trump card in many business's and especially politics.

BTW this DOESN'T mean that most Blacks aren't deservedly elected, they are.  Barack is an exception, he hasn't done dick!

When will we get a president with great arab genetics probably never because of the war on terror, sadly most americans are racist against arabs.

Oh yes...after all, what chance has a white male ever had in this country...everywhere you look, black women populate all the power slots.  Do you really believe what you write?

This happens from time to time with biracial kids, they are searching for  their identity. And it goes as far a if that child or person "looks" more black or white. Those who look more black, sometimes don't want to acknowledge that they are by definition (the one drop rule) black. For instance many blacks who were mulattoes in the early  to mid 20th century, choose to "pass" as white. Hell Most of the of the blacks who went to college back in that time period were mulattoes (WEB Dubois).

And then you have culture itself, some biracial kids who want to seems "real" search out certain aspects of black culture, to show that they are "real".

OK- Lets be honest here for once. If John McCain was born Jamal McCain to Biracial  and multireligious parents, but was raised by his black muslim mothers side of the family,  was cared for by his black muslim side of the family and lived largely within the standard of living provided by the black muslim side of his family ( also attending College and graduate school comprised largely of a black muslim population) and then all of a sudden decided one day to embrace his white and christian roots (which had largely been ignored his entire life) by suddenly changing his name to John and attending church- Would anyone take him seriously?

I mean lets see- He would gain the white vote, the christian vote, he's running as a republican, he gets the elder vote-- Seems pretty logical to me right?
