Barr's positions on assassinations, welfare, weed, and more!
« on: September 08, 2008, 05:18:09 PM »
http://www.ontheissues.org/GA/Bob_Barr.htm

It's hard not to love this guy's positions.  He's essentially Mccain - only doesn't support pre-emptive wars and sure hates the big borrowing/spending that both Obama and Mccain support.  Some notables:

He's all about expanding the military, yet removing all UN control from our men abroad.
Voted YES on vouchers for private & parochial schools.
Favors the legalization of marijuana for medical purposes

Voted NO on prohibiting oil drilling & development in ANWR.
Voted YES on withdrawing from the WTO.

Government is too big, too intrusive, too easy with money.
Sponsored bill allowing assassination of terrorist leaders.

McCain is big-government; I am small-government.
Limit welfare to 2 years & cut welfare spending.

What is his position on abortion?

If his ex is telling the truth, he's a stone cold hypocrite for pursing Clinton's impeachment.

Publisher Larry Flynt levels accusations at Rep. Bob Barr
January 12, 1999
Web posted at: 4:50 p.m. EDT (1650 GMT)

WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, Jan. 12) -- Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt is accusing Republican Rep. Bob Barr of Georgia of sexual infidelity, hypocrisy and lying under oath about an abortion.

Barr is refusing to discuss his personal life with the news media, but issued a statement saying "I have never perjured myself...I have never suggested, urged, forced or encouraged anyone to have an abortion."

In a late-night news conference in California, Flynt released an affidavit from Barr's former wife, Gail, in which she said Barr paid for an abortion she had in 1983 and that he never objected to it.

Barr said under oath in his 1986 divorce testimony that he did object to the abortion.

Barr
The ex-wife also said in the affidavit that she now believes Barr, while still married to her, began an affair with the woman he married a month after the divorce became final in 1986.

Neither Barr nor his current wife, Jeri, denied an affair when asked about it repeatedly during the divorce proceedings.

Flynt is offering up to $1 million for information about sexual indiscretions by members of Congress. He wouldn't say how much he paid Gail Barr for her affidavit, but said he found her "destitute" and made a "generous" financial offer.

Gail Barr declined comment.

Flynt, Bob Barr and other guests will appear on CNN's "Larry King Live" at 9 p.m. ET Tuesday.

9 years ago, Flint offered money for answers.

Did he ever get them?

I do like his position on it: "Barr is refusing to discuss his personal life with the news media"

Instead of lying about it like Clinton, he just says MYOB.

The allegation is he lied under oath about sex, which is precisely why Clinton was impeached, led by Barr.

Let me get this straight:  you are frothing at the mouth over a National Enquirer allegation involving Palin, but you dismiss out of hand an allegation that Barr cheated on his wife, urged his wife to have an abortion, and lied under oath?

And didn't he give a keynote address to the Council of Conservative Citizens?

I'm not dismissing anything.  I asked you what came of Flint's offer and said I liked his answer to reporters.  I don't know anything about this affair, but I'm sure you can share more as you attempt to derail this thread by attacking the messenger - barr - rather than his positions, which was the TOPIC of this thread.

her berseker, can you please teach this mod that if he wants a thread on barr's personal life - START ONE!  This thread is about his positions, and your rep-counting mod can't see that.

Waaaaaa!  This thread is about Barr's political views.  Barr is a hypocrite.  You are free to disagree.   :)

Maybe you can discuss his affiliation with the CCC?

I don't intend to spend much time talking about Barr.  He's never going to be president.  He isn't smart enough to be president IMO.
