"The 30,000-plus-member union has long been at odds with Schwarzenegger, but his order in July to cut the pay of prison guards to the minimum wage sparked their latest confrontation." Wow that's fucked up. Doesn't California have some of the shittiest prisons around?

Still that seems to only be one group. Otherwise I've heard only positive about Arnold's governing, but maybe I was getting all of that info from here.

His primary rationale for supporting the recall against Gov. Grey Davis several years ago was the state’s budget deficit.  Well the deficit under Arnold is now much bigger than it was under Davis!  $15 billion and counting!

When he ran during the recall, he said over and over again that he would forego his salary as Gov. because he was already rich and merely wanted to give back to the state.  What he didn’t say was that, days before he was sworn in, he inked a secret deal with AMI to get—at a minimum--one million dollars a year from them for supporting their business interests while he was Gov.  Voters in California only learned about that secret agreement because a nosey reporter combed through the SEC filings of AMI and found references to an agreement between AMI and someone referred to only as “Mr. S.”  Eventually we found out who Mr. S was. Embarrassed by the disclosure, and hounded by the press, Mr. S. cancelled the contract and future payments from AMI, but he kept all the money he had been paid by them up until that point.  >:(

That doesn't sound like much of a scandal. How much damage could AMI even do if every thing went their way?

Arnold's aproval rating is over 80%. I doubt that any attempt to recall him will be successful. As for the deficit, well, it could only keep growing! I don't know if you guys are aware of this, but a state governor has actually very little power to cut state expendings. Most of it is decided by the legislature and most of California's legislators are democrats, which means big governement, and a governor simply cannot cut spending on most areas even if he wants to.
