Ford are making a new eco friendly 65Mpg Fiesta model... that will sell like hot cakes I think. As far as I am aware it's not on going on sale in the US tho

Ford and GM make money on their small cars everywhere else in the world except North America.

The cars they market in the US are terrible in quality compared to the overseas models.
