Joe Biden told supporters at a town hall Wednesday afternoon that Barack Obama might have been better off choosing Hillary Clinton as his running mate.

“Make no mistake about this, Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight,” Biden said testily when a voter told Biden he was glad the Delaware senator had been chosen and not Clinton.

“She’s a truly close personal friend and she is qualified to be President of the United States of America, she’s easily qualified to be Vice President of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me,” he continued.

"I mean that sincerely, she’s first rate.”

of course.  i think that may be a backup plan.  if he's losing in the final weeks. have biden back out for personal reasons, and put clinton on the ticket as VP.

think about it.  the far-right wouldn't have time to bash hilary in the press for all her luggage and bill's connections and issues.  Instead, it'd be "Hi shallow idiot women voters who only select a candidate based on sex organs - I came to my senses"

And a lot of Palin voters would jump right to his bandwagon.  It's entirely possible.

There is no graceful way for Obama to do that.  Unless Biden literally dies it would be viewed as a cynical move and likely rejected by Clinton's supporters.  It's not clear that Clinton would even accept.

in this day of marketing, gimmicks, and other silliness (hockey mom with nuke codes - hilarious!), I could see it happening.  Obama made a big mistake not choosing hilary.  He let his ego come first.

the chances of her getting the 2012 nomination - after tearing the party apart in 2008 - would be minimal.

many believed obama had it won 6 weeks before the end - remember when hilary was mathemitcally out of it?
Yet she stayed in it, trashing him for another 6 weeks.  There was no way se coudl win nomination - she just didn't want to give up.  Obama was hurt bigtime by her "ready to lead?" campaign.

she gets no love in 2012.  she'd take this job in a moment.  her team announced she'd accept it, on the sat after she dropped out.  Obama never vetted or claled her.  big mistake.
