The only way to keep the government in check is to be able to shoot the shit out of them if need be.

Agree, that's what the second amendment is all about.  Our Founding Fathers knew what they were doing.

He was talking about fighting off people here if shit hits the fan because gasoline, diesel.. etc.. isn't available...

so his solution for when a total breakdown of the government (chaos) is for untrained people to have AK47s? that is great forward thinking

if he is that concerned about it then why not be proactive about solutions now.

1. Institute a minimum of 50 miles/gl on new cars in 4 years.
2. Aritifcially raise the the price of gas to lower demand
3. start the planning and development of a cross country high speed rail system (no gas)
4. Mandate that the USA be energy independent in 15-20 years.
....

think long term

240,

1. what percentage of the national budget is welfare?
2. who are the largest recipient of these benefits?

no clue.  Too much.  If I can see one pregnant woman smoking a joint, drinkinh a budweiser while cashing a $1000 check for her 4 kids, it's too many.

Possibly good ideas, responsible law abiding citizens should also have the right to defend themselves and their families in a time of crisis.

I totally agree with you, any law abiding citizen should be able to buy a gun, after a back ground check and required training.  You need to pass a minimum skills test to get a drivers licence, why not a gun

..but you think assault rifless are a bit much?

an area that both candidates is failing is in bashing/forcing/shaming americans into buying US manufactured/produced products.

Every american is patriotic except with their money, that to me a total shame.  I am willing to bet that if 1/4 of americans bought only americam made goods that we wouldn't have any economic issues

This country was founded by people who didn't need a "permit" to fire weapons and those "untrained" people beat the best military force of it's day.

No... "We The People" do not need any "formal" training to kill shit... We do it every day when it's required.

I really haven't made up my mind on assault rifles.  I think even though they are banned Criminals have access to them, so why keep them out of the hands of the honest upstanding Americans?  ???

Not sure though...

Not a bad premise, but this is a global economy and it will destroy the rest of the world, and us with it.

Pretty much agree, especially if these training programs were administered by our government.  ;D

Weird that we can have a civilized debate here on Gossip & Opinions, but on the Political Board it would be spammed with all kinds of bullshit.  :P

does the same apply to drugs?

how does 2 idiots having an AK47 solve anything? but we shouldn't get off on tangent..gun control and the extent of it is side issue

the economy should be the focus and the only focus.

I do think these kind of classes should be encouraged way way way more.  I took a class like that when I was eight or nine years old.

Let's look at numbers then.

Is unemployment higher or lower? It's lower than when Free trade started.

While the dollar's value is lower, that's been a good thing in a way because us exporting goods to other countries is cheaper.

Show me... In numbers where the economy (while not growing) is worse off now than other countries... Where is the US not prospering?

So people aren't buying cars from America... So what?

Our GDP is UP compared to before free trade... So how is that a bad thing?

the shame of it is that americans are so easily distracted by both parties..we need to keep the conversation on how to lower the debt, balance the budget, increase the national savings rate.........

instead every 2 to 3 days the publics' attention is focused on some nonesense or the other

my friend, you are not looking at the big picture.

we export zero in comparison to what we import..what that amounts to is wealth transfer.  Ameria is living off of the riches of the past, our current economic model is not sustainable.  22 cents out of every dollar is currently borrowed from a foreign entity.

I'm sorry, but I have to live and work in numbers... The numbers do not show that free trade has hurt America's economy at all.

It may have hurt some people who are used to having a Union wage and doing pretty much nothing to get paid outrageous amounts of money for that unskilled job they have, but as a whole in the economy, it has not hurt the US.

Where is it the governments job to make people get a job that makes them more money, or where is it the governments job to deny a country the ability to move certain functions and increase profits for shareholders.

That's capitalism... If you don't like it, you certainly shouldn't be in the US.

I am all for free trade, but from what I see free trade means..we buy other countries products.

capitalism means sending auto manufacturing jobs to a country with a $2/hr wage. Good for the company, bad for the 1000s of people losing their jobs in the midwest. Michigan is virtually a ghost down these days.

also what does free trade have to do with more american electing to buy their jeans that is 100% produced in america?

It is crazy that you are telling me to leave america because I want more americans to buy american made goods?  ???  ???  ???

You're a buffoon... I said if you didn't like CAPITALISM, then  you shouldn't be in the US.

The people in Michigan should get a real skill so they can have a job, not expect a company to let them work at an overpriced wage for doing nothing.

Free trade works both ways... Maybe they don't buy cars, but they buy IP... The US has more Intellectual Property than any other country in the world.
