do pros pay an entrance fee?  why else would the powers that be allow people with such serious flaws, who will clearly be derided on the various internet forums, allowed to compete?    or is it like with amateurs, where the majority of the audience are friends and family members of the people on stage?

100% correct, when this guy came on you heard crickets..  I think it was just more fun to watch someone that looked that bad walk on stage more than anything else. I have no idea what runs through these peoples heads.
